Thien Hau Temple - The oldest Chinese temple in HCMC, where you can hear the story of the “Boat People.”
Ba Thien Hau Temple in Saigon is a Buddhist temple dedicated to Mazu, the Chinese sea goddess. Mazu is believed to protect and rescue ships and people at sea by flying around on a mat or cloud. Mazuism combines elements of Taoism and Buddhism, merging various traditions into a unique belief system. The temple is located in ‘Cholon’ (Chinatown) in District 5, about a twenty-minute drive from the city center.
- Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral - The Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon (Vietnamese: Vương cung thánh đường Chính tòa Đức Bà Sài Gòn or Nhà thờ Đức Bà Sài Gòn; French: Basilique-Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Saigon), officially known as the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception (Vietnamese: Vương cung thánh đường Chính tòa Đức Mẹ Vô nhiễm Nguyên tội; French: Basilique-Cathédrale Notre-Dame de l’Immaculée Conception), is situated in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It exemplifies French Colonial architecture in Vietnam.
Constructed in 1897 by French architect Eugène Ferret as the Opéra de Saigon, the 500-seat building served as the home of the Lower House assembly of South Vietnam after 1956. It was not used as a theatre again until 1975 and was restored in 1995.

It was renamed after 1975 as the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
Although this elegant colonial building is not open to the public, it is a popular spot for photography. Many tourists take photos outside, especially at night when the building and its grounds are illuminated.
