The exploration continues to the one-of-a-kind Secovlje salt pans, the most extensive wetland along the Slovenian coastline, where age-old traditions of salt production are still practiced, dating back 700 years. The deserted southern section of the reserve characterised by ruined buildings, former part of the salt industry, adds to the allure of the Secovlje salt pans. This reserve also serves as a habitat for a variety of fauna and flora.
