The ever-cheerful, dance-enthusiastic, and farming-focused Bantu ethnolinguistic group known as The Gogo (mgogo singluar, Wagogo plural) reside mainly in the Dodoma Region in the heart of Tanzania. Historically, the Gogo were recognised as pastoralists and patrilineal - with descent and inheritance traced through the male lineage. However, numerous modern Gogo have transitioned into settled farming, relocated to urban environments, or are employed on Tanzanian plantations. They possess notable musical talent, and their Gogo music holds a reputable international standing. They are revered as the African drumming queens.
