National Museum of Qatar - Located in Doha, Qatar, the National Museum of Qatar is a prominent cultural institution. The current building, which opened to the public on March 28, 2019, replaced the original structure from 1975. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the building draws inspiration from the desert rose crystal found in Qatar. Visitors can enjoy a tour through a series of galleries that explore three major, interconnected themes. These galleries are arranged in a loose chronological order, starting with the natural history of the desert and the Persian Gulf, followed by artifacts from Bedouin culture, historical exhibitions on tribal conflicts, the formation of the Qatari state, and concluding with the discovery of oil up to the present day. The exhibits feature audiovisual presentations and carefully curated treasures from the museum’s collections.

Souq Waqif - Souq Waqif (Arabic: Sūq Wāqif, “the standing market”) is a vibrant marketplace in Doha, Qatar. It offers a variety of traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs, along with numerous restaurants and Shisha lounges. The original structure, dating back to at least the 20th century, showcases traditional Qatari architectural style and underwent renovation in 2006. Established over a century ago near the dry riverbed known as Wadi Musheireb, the souq served as a trading hub for Bedouins and locals, primarily dealing in livestock goods. Today, Souq Waqif is a popular tourist attraction in Doha.

Katara Cultural Village - Katara is a cultural village situated in Doha, Qatar, on the eastern coast between West Bay and the Pearl. Historically, “Katara” was the name used for Qatar before the 18th century. The village had its soft opening in October 2010 during the Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF), an event it continues to host. Katara features an open amphitheater, an opera house, a multi-purpose cinema, a conference hall, a beach, and a souq. In November 2015, a museum dedicated to the country’s maritime heritage was inaugurated.

The Pearl Island - The Pearl-Qatar is an artificial island covering nearly four square kilometers. It is the first land in Qatar available for freehold ownership by foreign nationals. The name “The Pearl” was chosen because the island is being developed on one of Qatar’s former major pearl diving sites. Before the introduction of more affordable Japanese pearls, Qatar was a leading pearl trader in Asia. The Pearl-Qatar symbolizes Qatar’s rich history in the pearl industry and is designed to resemble a string of pearls.
