Highlights
  • Sky View Doha - A best place to take photos of Doha skyline

  • National Museum of Qatar - The National Museum of Qatar is a national museum in Doha, Qatar. The current building opened to the public on 28 March 2019, replacing the previous building which opened in 1975. The building was designed by architect Jean Nouvel who was inspired by the desert rose crystal, which can be found in Qatar. The museum site includes Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani’s Palace, which is the heart of the Qatari national identity.
A tour of the museum takes visitors through a loop of galleries that address three major, interrelated themes. The galleries are loosely arranged in chronological order, beginning with exhibitions on the natural history of the desert and the Persian Gulf, artefacts from Bedouin culture, historical exhibitions on the tribal wars, the establishment of the Qatari state, and finally the discovery of oil to the present. The displays and installations that explore these themes present audiovisual displays with carefully selected treasures from the museum’s collections.

  • Katara Cultural Village - Is the largest and the most multi-dimensional cultural project of Qatar. It is a place where people come together to experience the cultures of the world. With beautiful theatres, concert halls, exhibition galleries and cutting-edge facilities, Katara aims to become a world leader for multi-cultural activities.

  • The Pearl Island - The Pearl-Qatar is an artificial island spanning nearly four square kilometers. It is the first land in Qatar to be available for freehold ownership by foreign nationals.
The name “The Pearl” was chosen because the island is being built on one of Qatar’s previous major pearl diving sites. Qatar was one of the major pearl traders of Asia before the Japanese introduced cheaper more affordable pearls just before Qatar’s oil boom. The Pearl-Qatar helps to represent Qatar’s rich past in the pearl industry. The Pearl is said to resemble a string of pearls.

  • Souq Waqif - Souq Waqif (Arabic: سوق واقف) is a marketplace (souq) in Doha, in the state of Qatar. The souq sells traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs. It is also home to restaurants and shisha lounges. The original building dates back to the late 19th to early 20th centuries in a traditional Qatari architectural style. Luckily, in 2004, it was decided to preserve this historical site so the entire market area has been renovated and restored according to the traditional Qatari architectural techniques. It’s probably the only traditional souq left in the Gulf.

  • The Corniche - The Doha Corniche is a waterfront promenade extending for seven kilometres along Doha Bay in Qatar’s capital city, Doha. Annual celebrations of national holidays such as Qatar National Day and National Sports Day are centered on the Doha Corniche. It is a popular tourist and leisure attraction within Qatar.

Great Private Tour Doha - We did the Doha Private City Tour in September during a layover in Doha. Our tour guide was Fahad, and he was excellent. He contacted me via WhatsApp, and met us at the airport. He was punctual, and our car (Land Cruiser) was comfortable. Fahad provided options regarding the places we wanted to see. We didn't have anything specific, other than shopping, on our list, so we let him lead. He did a great job. He knew about the history of Doha, and shared useful information. He got us back to the airport on time, and safely. We would definitely use him for a tour in Doha.

Hamad Rocks! Doha is beautiful 😍 - Phenomenal experience with our guide Hamad! Aside from the places included in the tour, Hamad talked freely about the city, people, and sights. I was going to buy dresses for my girls and Hamad heard the prices they werw calling and said no - too expensive! Thanks for looking out for us! I would highly recommend all stops but be aware that the museum of Qatar would definitely take more than an hour to truly go through it! This is a must for those with a short stay in Qatar. Also, make sure you ask for water - you'll need it in the summer months. Also, super clean city!
