Nice trip out of Doha - It was a good trip getting out of the city. We went mid day so not much happening at mangroves or the fishing port. Interesting to drive across the desert, especially when it was windy (so much sand & dust in the air). Bilal was our guide and he was friendly, interesting and knowledgeable. But what was the highlight for us was after Fort Zubara, we asked Bilal, if it was possible to take us to the art installation nearby (shadows traveling on the sea of the day). He agreed. We loved it.

Interesting to see this part of Qatar - This was a very interesting part of Qatar and I was glad to see some of the history of the area and to experience a different part of the country. The fort was very impressive and the interpretive boards there were very informative. We visited the National Museum of Qatar the following day and found that much of the tour provided good context for the museums displays. The guide was a little disappointing. While he was polite and efficient, he would more accurately been referred to as a 'driver'. He provided only minimal and superficial information about each area. I would have liked to have heard more about Qatar and its people generally. It was a long drive to sit in silence when all these interesting things were passing us by outside the car.

Not a good experience - Unfortunately this was not a good experience. Our guide Bilal was more of a driver than a guide. We would arrive at a location and he would tell us to read the signs. He only spoke to us in the car when we would ask him a direct question. The locations on the tour could have been fun and interesting had the guide been more engaged. Hopefully he was just having a bad day.
