Early. - Very complete, they kept us cool with lots of water and Coke, they took us to a market that had everything, they took to very interesting coffee and cocoa plantations, we passed by a school but the children were already on vacation, because we did not see anything, they explained something brief, then they took us to eat in the mountain, they would have arranged somewhere, very simple and normal food, in the end we ended up on the beach of Macau, which I did not like anything, very inclined and very little space, many kiosks to buy, but always haggling.

Five stars - We had a blast!! We were met at Baia Principe resort. It began with a little confusion getting all the people from different resorts on the many different excursions. When all sorted, our guide, Emilio and driver Roberto took us into the country side. Emilio was terrific!!! His English was great. He explained the people and history. (Warts &all) First stop an overview of the island the a tour to watch cigars being made and an overview of the Rum. Emilio was informative & patient. Next stop the city od Heugley, and Catherdral. Emilio walked us through explaining everything (ladies need leg cover: skirt [wraps are provided] pants preferred for men) the off to Maria’s house- an authentic Dominican home with authentic meal. Emilio took us on a tour of the floral & fauna, explaining the bananas, coffe, coca… growing all around. Then to a demonstration of how they are prepared. - a short sales pitch to sell it all. We had a homemade authentic lunch prepped by Maria. All our questions were answered and treated with upmost respect. There was a rainstorm so the river swim was a dud. No one’s fault. Still a bonding w/ our other tourists. All in all - 5 Stars!!! Jorge met us at the airport and gave us all the do’s & don’ts. (Dint drink the room water and beach vendors. We felt safe and cared for. Everyone was professional. Worth every cent!!!
