Safe, Professional, and Fun!! You're treated like family. - Safe, Professional, and Fun!! The reviews of this service did not fail me! I was amazed at the flexibility of Rigo and his team even before the tour began. He was very professional and responsive. We had a family of 9, only 4 of us confirmed, but at the last minute the other 5 wanted to join in. Rigo happily accommodated & treated us all like family. We felt safe on his tour the entire time as he was driving and educating us about Puerto Plata. He gave us options as to what we wanted to do and the times that we wanted to do everything. Lunch by the ocean was breathtaking! I highly recommend RIGO and LEONEL TOURS if you ever visit Amber Cove/Puerto Plata.

Best Trip Ever… Rigo is GREAT - To say that reserving Rigo for the day to be our private tour guide and transportation was the best decision ever would be an understatement! He was professional, patient and extremely kind getting us around and helping us check all the things off our bucket list!!!! If you get a chance to reserve a spot in his van, you won’t be disappointed!!!!

We spent time at the beach, cigar factory, chocolate factory, pink street, and umbrella street and a local lunch. If your port is Amber Cove, use Rigo and Leonel Tours to see Puerto Plata - Our port of Amber Cove was not interesting at all so we decided to visit Puerto Plata. Our driver was Augustine and he spoke pretty good English. For $130 US, our driver took us to many of the destinations of interest in Puerto Plata in a new van with AC. It was Independence Day in the DR, and traffic was heavy. He stayed with us the entire time. Ended up heading out to Playa Dorado for some Pina Colada. He got us back to the port in plenty of time. If I had it to do all over again, I might have spent less time at the beach and had Augustine take us to the Waterfalls of Damajagua.

Putting up with 2 women - Our tour guide listened to our needs and customized the tour to suit our needs. He was very helpful, professional and patient with two women. We would ask for Edward again when we return.

Puerto Plata city tour From Amber Cove - Rigo and Leonel were excellent tour guides. We were a group of 8 looking for an "excursion" that would be designed for our group and less expensive than the cruise ship excursions. We saw the local attractions, the Rum factory and had a very delicious lunch at a beach side restaurant. And they returned us to the cruise ship on time, despite heavy traffic!

Best ever tour guide - I heard about Rigo and his taxi services on a Facebook Group. I then read reviews which were fantastic I booked him right away. He was waiting for us when we got into port. He showed us so much in and around Peurto Plata. Included Run Factory, Pink Street Umbrella street where he did some amazing photos for us! Also visited the area from the richer areas to the poorer. Stopped for souvenirs and a great lunch by the ocean. The views during the whole tour were spectacular!!! Thank you Rigo

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - I've rated many different experiences and lodgings in the past, mostly very positive. It takes a lot to make me give a negative review. Meeting up with our driver was.. interesting. All the licensed independent tour guides gather in one area to meet their guests, just outside the port. We arrived early, and as our meetup time came and went, the local guides kept an eye on us and would check in occasionally. We showed them our Viator confirmation with the name of the company, and they were obviously unfamiliar with the group. They did introduce us to the representative from the government's Department of Tourism, who stays on site to keep an eye on things. That is when we discovered that this tour is not run by a licensed tour operator. This is a taxi driver who was uncomfortable coming to the same area with the licensed guides. The government official explained to us that this is a problem the Dominican Republic is working on; to make sure all guides are licensed. He contacted our driver for us, and told him to come and meet us. After he met with the driver, he was comfortable with letting us proceed with our trip, and we felt better that someone knew where we were going, and with whom. Our taxi driver did not speak English. That is, his English is about the same level as my Spanish, which is muy pequito. He would speak into his phone, and use Google Translate to narrate the trip. Stops on the trip included shops run by his family and friends. We cut the trip short and returned to the ship. The one star was earned for having a clean car and being friendly. If you decide to go this route, with having a taxi driver just run you around town, you will be better off just going to the taxi stand and paying WAY less than we did for our trip.
