It is a prime example of the grand architectural design and symbolism of the Ming Dynasty.
- Sanlihe Park - Located on the east side of Qianmen Xianyukou Hutong, Sanlihe Park begins after Qianmen East Street and extends south along Beiluyuan and Nanluyuan Hutong. The river is home to numerous koi and pairs of mandarin ducks, and a section filled with reeds adds a touch of wild charm.
- Shichahai Scenic Resort - Situated in Beijing’s Xicheng District, Shichahai was historically known by names like Bailiantan, Jishuitan, and Haizi before its current name was adopted in the Ming Dynasty. It was a key dock for the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal during the Yuan Dynasty, marking the end of water transport. The northern and eastern shores of Houhai Lake are lively urban centers in the city.
- Bell and Drum Towers - The Beijing Drum Tower, originally built in 1272 and reconstructed in 1420 and 1539, along with the Bell Tower, rebuilt in 1745, served as timekeeping centers during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The Drum Tower, standing 46.7 meters tall, is painted a striking red, featuring a double-eave wooden design and 25 large drums. The grey brick and stone Bell Tower complements it, both being key elements of Beijing’s central axis.
- Qianmen Walking Street - A 15-minute ride from Sanlihe leads to the Qianmen and Dashilan area. Qianmen Street is one of Beijing’s most renowned commercial streets, hosting many long-established shops. Entering Neiliansheng, visitors find a traditionally decorated space with various styles of cloth shoes. Observers can watch masters craft shoes, from material selection and cutting to sole attachment, each step reflecting the artisans’ dedication. Visitors can try on shoes and choose a pair as a keepsake. In Dashilan, explore other traditional establishments like Ruifuxiang Silk Store and Zhang Yiyuan Tea House to experience the allure of traditional commercial culture.
