• The Great Wall of Gubeikou - Your English-speaking tour guide will meet you at the designated time in your hotel lobby (if your hotel is centrally located in Beijing). From there, you’ll head straight to the Gubeikou Great Wall, which is about a 2-hour drive.

The hike begins at Gubeikou. You’ll enter the Jinshanling Great Wall from the west gate and walk eastward until you reach the east gate.

Gubeikou is a wild and unrestored section of the Great Wall, allowing you to see it in its original state. You won’t encounter large crowds at either Gubeikou or Jinshanling.

After exploring Gubeikou, you’ll hike through the mountains for about half an hour before arriving at the Jinshanling Great Wall.

You’ll enter Jinshanling Great Wall from the west gate and continue walking eastward along the wall.

• Jinshanling Great Wall - Upon entering Jinshanling Great Wall from the west gate, you’ll notice that its condition is much better than Gubeikou’s, and it remains quiet and untouristic.

You’ll walk from the west gate to the east gate of Jinshanling Great Wall for about 4-5 hours, enjoying the changing and beautiful scenery of the Great Wall.

If you feel too tired to complete the entire journey, there are several exits along Jinshanling where you can leave midway. Your guide will inform you of these exits.

The entire hike from Gubeikou to Jinshanling takes approximately 5-6 hours and covers about 11-12 kilometers (6-7 miles).

After exiting from the east gate of Jinshanling Great Wall, you’ll have a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant.

Following lunch, you can take a nap in the car as we drive you back to your hotel, which will take another 2 hours.

• There is no toilet along the path on the Wall. Please prepare before hiking and always carry toilet paper by yourself.
• Please don’t make any appointment after the trip as the return can be late.
• You will be followed by local farmers at Jinshanling. They may you help along the way, as a reward they will sell some souvenirs. If you don’t want to buy, you have to say NO firmly at the beginning (MAYBE LATER does not work in Chinese culture) or just ignore them and do not speak a word with them; otherwise they can be persistent and follow you all the way on the Wall.
