Highlights
  • Мали казан - Mali Kazan or Small Boiler is one of two ravines in the most attractive part of the Iron Gates. You’ll experience this one from water and sail through its the most attractive part.
  • Велики казан - Veliki Kazan or Big Boiler is another ravine in the most attractive part of the Iron Gates. Here you’ll learn about the deepest point of Danube. You’ll also learn about how boats used to wait for clear passage before radio stations were used and what they used as a signal.
  • Rock Sculpture of Decebalus - Enjoy a fabulous sight on the Romanian side of the river. This sculpture of Dacian king Decibel was carved in the rock to show rivalry between Dacian people (predecessors of modern Romanians) and Romans.
  • Trajan’s Plaque - Experience this ancient Roman memorial plaque dating from the II century AD which commemorates completion of the Roman road on the Danube. The original road is 30m below water now, so the only remaining peace of this history is the Tabula Traiana which was relocated in the 1970s before the area was flooded.

Additional Information

Embark on a thrilling boat ride through the most scenic part of the Iron Gates. Other modes of transportation simply cannot match this experience. As you navigate the Danube’s waves during this two-hour journey, you’ll witness stunning landscapes on both the Serbian and Romanian sides of the river. Incredibly, this trip allows you to enter Romanian international waters, meaning you’ll tick off two countries from your travel itinerary in one go. The tour takes place on a speed-boat, capable of accommodating a maximum of 12 passengers only. So unlike larger tours, you won’t be part of a larger crowd on a slow-moving boat.

Review - Great boat trip, with two captains! Really would recommend it, when you like nature and water! Tour guide knew a lot about surroundings and history. Cause the tour starts at 9 o'clock, it isn't that hot outside as well. You are definitely going to get an unforgettable memories!

Wonderful archeological site - Visited this site this morning. It was a great experience. Very well laid out and easy to see the entire site with very little physical effort to get there. Well worth the time to get there if you are in that region.

A day to Remember!!! - We were picked on time by our guide Miljan at our hotel and off our adventure began. Our first stop was the Fortress of Golubac, it was a perfect sunny day on the Danube and the fortress was spectacular. Our next stop was the archaeological site at Lepenski Vir. Are arrival was preceded by a butterfly hatching. The exhibit was truly interesting and moving. The next stop was to hook up with our Captain Sasha and his first mate Bobin. We traveled downstream with our guide Miljan dispensing his knowledge of the surrounding area. We rounded the corner and there was the rock sculpture of Decebalus. One word, "WOW". We went a little father along and ran into the Emperor Trajan's plaque commemorating the completion of the Roman road. We got right next to it and have the most incredible pictures. Thanks Miljan!!!! We saw a few river cruise ships go by and they certainly did not get the personal attention we did!!! After the boat ride off we went to a traditional Serbian families house for lunch!! The view was great!!! The food awesome!!! What a day!!! Thanks Miljan!!! Noroc!!!!
