Join us for a delightful morning in the heart of Guipuzcoa. Oñati, recently recognized as one of the world’s top towns for tourism by the World Tourism Organization, will captivate you with its offerings. The Sancti Spiritus University stands out as a major attraction in Oñati, but it’s not the only one. You’ll also find the Church of San Miguel, the Bidaurreta Monastery, Plaza de los Fueros, Plaza de Santa Marina, and the palaces of Antia, Madinabeitia, and Baruekua.
Next, we’ll visit the Aranzazu Sanctuary. According to legend, the Virgin Mary appeared to a shepherd named Rodrigo de Balzategi on a thorn tree, and in astonishment, he asked, “Arantzan zu?” (You on a thorn tree?). Over the centuries, Franciscan friars have transformed Arantzazu into a site of devotion and pilgrimage, as well as a showcase of art and culture.
