Entertaining tour - A week ago we had a wonderful day in Dresden despite the strong wind and we also really enjoyed the evening tour with the night watchman. The night watchman humorously reported facts about historical figures and buildings from the night watchman's perspective. And at the end we were sent off into the night with a humorous song by Georg Philipp Telemann. We can only recommend the tour.

Good for a quick overview - It was a great way to get a good overview of the city. The walking tour is 1.5 hours. We skipped it due to lack of time. The Zwinger Palace grounds have been completely dug up, so it is a little challenging to get around to the 3 museums on the premises. The sound on thr English audio guide on the bus was quite scratchy and was difficult to hear. There are plenty of these buses running around the city, so they are quite easy to catch.

Good route very targeted to Germans. - The tour was extensive in the route. Although we had the narration in English through ear pieces it was extremely limited and did not provide adequate explanation of the sights. There were many long pauses in the narration. However, the German commentary was over the loud soeaker, not prerecorded, was incessant and did not stop for the entire 2 hours. They clearly received so much more information than those listening to English.

Not quite up to expectations - So far ok, but you don't understand anything about the loudspeaker system unless the bus is stationary. It’s better up front. That clouded it. They, or at least the driver, weren’t enthusiastic about his work either... everyone should notice that.

Book online, no thanks!?!? - A very nice city tour with lots of explanations, in one bus even the driver didn't give any additional explanations.
But now comes this:
1. It would be nice, for example, if there were benches for people waiting at some of the exits. I'm specifically talking about the Grosser Garten exit, as there would be plenty of space there.
2. Since I wanted to take my 88-year-old mother on another trip through her hometown and wanted to avoid standing, I booked the tickets for the tour and the visit to the Panometer online early. When I arrived at Postplatz, I wanted to board the bus. The QR code on my phone (that's what they advertise on the website), but I was denied boarding. I needed a printout.
So I got in line with the holidaymakers ready to buy (that's exactly what I wanted to avoid!) and got a printout. 43 cm long and 7.5 cm wide. And that twice...once for the bus, once for entry to the Panometer
Paper waste times three and then why book online?????????
For me, unfortunately, that was the most lasting impression of the trip.

Bad - We had booked online for the 1.11.24 the city tour by ship and mountain railway. In Dresden we had to print the online ticket into a "ticket". To do this, we had to walk to the main hop on hop off location and were handed a printout over a metre long. We were also advised that we had to be there half an hour before the ship departed. We were with a lot of other people half an hour before departure of the ship at the jetty and have approx. Watched the crew set tables, smoke cigarettes, walk around for 20 minutes... Why we should be there so early has not been revealed to us. We were still lucky with the weather today, in rain or cold I find this behavior of the organizer impossible. We also found the German-speaking crew quite grumpy. For a good day, welcome aboard we waited in vain.
It was particularly annoying that the bus was so crowded that we had to stand for longer distances.
I cannot understand why you switch to the winter timetable for a long weekend (Thursday was Reformation Day, Friday was All Saints Day, where several federal states have public holidays) with a bridge day and then obviously have too few buses in use.
I found it strange that we heard the explanation of Dresden in German over a loudspeaker on the bus. Can only German-speaking guests travel? In other countries we were always offered headphones at Hop on Hop off and you could choose your language.
We can only advise against this tour

take headphones - Unfortunately, no headphones are offered, loud chatter makes it difficult to hear information - and the bus is too noisy.
Make sure you bring your own headphones

Not recommended at all - We were traveling as a family of 4. We wanted to buy tickets from the bus driver, but he only accepts cash. We then booked online and luckily paid with Paypal. The bus was completely crowded as it turned out. Lots of people had to stand. It was also incredibly hot on the bus despite the advanced date in October. There were no audio guides. Instead, there was live commentary from the annoyed bus driver. However, these were not to be understood at all because of the deafening diesel engine. In the meantime, he would sometimes stop, turn off the engine and sell drinks (including champagne) to passengers. Nor did he tire of stressing that he would like a tip at the end. In the middle of the ride he said that everyone should get off and get on the bus in front of us. He wouldn't drive anymore.
We have already used the Hop on Hop off buses in numerous cities. It has never been so grotty as in Dresden. We haven't learned anything about the city. Thanks to Paypal, at least we got our money back.
