Fun and informative - We were lucky and unlucky- unlucky because it poured with rain and the temperature plummeted- lucky because there were only 5 of us and Tomas was an excellent guide. He is an art historian so that dictated the sort of tour we were given. This was better than accounts of the air raid of February 1945 or a potted history. Tomas pointed out details of the restoration and we learnt a lot. He was generous with his time despite being soaked!

A reconstructed gem - Dresden was almost completely destroyed during the 1945 Valentines Day bombing near the end of WWII. This baroque town was left in ruins until after German reunification in 1990. Since then it’s been restored to its former glory. It’s so well done that unless one is told one wouldn’t know it was all a reconstruction. The proximity factor of all the buildings makes it easier to walk the entire town in one day.

Art in History - Thomas was amazing! He showed us everything you NEED to see in Dresden while also giving us insightful information about the art trends in history along with their meaning. He was able to joke around, make conversation, and keep our group entertained while being able to learn about the history in Dresden. With Thomas’ approach to giving us information through art in history, it was able to give us a better understanding of Dresden’s history. 10/10 would recommend this tour!

Great Art History Tour - I appreciate Thomas's expertise in art history as well as the historical context of Dresden. Born and raised in Dresden, he brings the historical context to the tour which allows tourists to see Dresden as it was prior to WWII and what it is after the early 2000s. Thomas showed us quite minute aspects of the Zwinger, which not only informed, but also allowed us to appreciate the art in it.
