• Dresden Christmas Market - The Striezelmarkt, Germany’s oldest Christmas market, has been around since 1434! This is where the renowned Dresden Stollen originated. We will search for a baker who offers Stollen samples and share insights about Glühwein (mulled wine) and other Christmas traditions. Discover local delicacies and the stories behind the world-famous Christmas decorations.
• Procession of Princes - Stroll by the Procession of Princes, admire the intricate exterior of the Royal Cathedral and Palace, walk along Bruhl’s Terrace, also known as the Balcony of Europe, and learn how it earned this name.
• Royal Palace (Residenzschloss) - The tour does not include entry into the Museums of the Royal Palace. However, if open, your guide will lead you through the expansive courtyard adorned with the rare Renaissance technique ‘Sgrafitto’ and frescoes.

During Advent, our acclaimed walking tour of Dresden’s historic city center will feature a visit to one of Dresden’s enchanting Christmas markets!

Stroll through the cobblestone streets of Dresden on a walking tour to discover the city’s fascinating and tumultuous history, spanning from the medieval period through the Renaissance, Baroque, World War II, and post-World War II eras. This is a city that flourished, was devastated by fire-bombing, and was lovingly rebuilt and restored to once again be known as ‘The Florence on the Elbe.’

The tour will pass by several smaller Christmas markets and conclude at Germany’s oldest Christmas Market, where you can search for the Stollen, a special Christmas cake with a rich tradition. You will also encounter Christmas creations from Saxony, such as the Nutcracker and the Moravian Star.

Feel free to continue exploring on your own after the tour, at your leisure. Rest assured, we will guide you to the finest mulled wine—Glühwein—to toast to the beauty of Dresden.
