Wonderful tour. Even better whiskey. Go. - I've toured my share of distilleries, wineries, and breweries, and the experiences tend to vary mostly on the basis of scenery and libation. They point out the mash tun. Talk about their accolades. Send you to the giftshop. Not so at The Shed. This tour is a walking narrative of a curious mind, a transcontinental journey of influence and inspiration. Led by a charismatic and eloquent guide, this slow stroll takes you through a distinctly gorgeous copper distillery and into insanely well-decorated rooms. You are given a tasting at a long table set with silver trays and crystal glasses surrounded by aging barrels. The whiskey itself is a triumph — a soft, round complexity that opens up into a landscape of spice and honey. I didn't even want to swallow the stuff. I did, of course. I wasn't about to spit it out. The Shed itself is situated in lovely Leitrim, one of the more underrated counties in the West of Ireland. Take some time to explore the local townlands. It might be out of the way for most itineraries, but it shouldn't be out of yours. 10/10. Go. Sip. Pick up a bottle. Reminisce.

Great experience, beautiful place - Fantastic experience. The grounds, gardens, buildings are all gorgeous here. The guided tour was super, our host was really knowledgeable, funny, friendly and concise. Lot of information but the whiskey tasting and the whole thing is so beautifully done. Gorgeous glassware, seating, lighting etc. The bar at the end of the tour is really pretty and fun with lots of plants and cosy chairs, it’s so colourful too with all of the gin bottles, coloured glasses and cocktails. The shop also has such an array of beautiful things to buy. The gin is also fabulous!!

Great way to spend an afternoon! - Myself and a few friends came to the Shed for the distillery tour. We also had lunch before the tour started. It was busy and there was a bit of a wait for some of the groups food - I think there was some confusion with the order being lost. But the food was lovely and a gorgeous space for it. The tour was excellent. It exceeded expectations. The guide was informative and it was interesting to get an insight into production. Overall I'd highly recommend a visit here. It's a great spot and worth the visit!

Excellent way to spend an afternoon - A lovely way to whittle away a grey and wet afternoon. Tour was very interesting and the guide pleasant. Then we had whiskey tasting which was fun and concluded with a drink at the bar. We stopped for lunch which was excellent. So glad we came and superb value for money (although did spend a small fortune in the shop!!)

Spend an afternoon at The Shed - Fabulous experience at The Shed this afternoon. We really enjoyed the cafe with delicious food and the gin bar with exceptional staff, very friendly and helpful - especially Shane who served us in the bar. The stand out point for us were all the exceptional staff at The Shed - so welcoming and engaged with their customers. Would highly recommend a visit to The Shed for lunch and a G&T.

Guides with little knowledge and tasting a mess - The guide didn’t know what cask strength whiskey was. When asked why on 43% was bottled, the guide said it was illegal to sell higher ABV in Ireland…. There is only a minimum limit according to Irish law- 40% There were three whiskey drams. There was a lot of talk about the first dram and talk about the casks they use and then we had to rush out of the tasting room. Not a word about the other drams…. We could take them with us to the bar, but without discussion. It was said that water would bring out new notes… that happens in cask strength bottlings, but not in 43% bottlings to my knowledge at least. Consider that this is a 7 year old at 43% where several thousand bottles are produced, and the top of their line sells at EUR 123. In contrast, very good cask strength single barrel Scots whisky with an outturn of c. 280 bottles can be found for well under EUR 120. The drams were Ok but noticeably young and rough around the edges.
