Abu Dhabi in a Day - It was a very good experience to see Abu Dhabi in a small group (six of us). The attractions we visited were really popular and worth the visit except the market - we could have skipped that part. We were given enough time to explore and take photos. Our driver guide Usman was also friendly and clear with his instructions. Highly recommended.

Long tour your guide will make all the difference - Our tour guide Yasir was absolutely amazing!! He needs a raise and a bonus, I was amazed at how knowledgeable he was about the culture and land marks. The tour itself was a little long for me and my husband but Yasir helped the time go by.

Avoid at all costs - Afzan was absolutely terrible at his job. He misquoted facts about the UAE while driving dangerously slow on the highway, mostly because he was unable to focus on the road as he stared into the rear view mirror while trying to remember his inaccurate recitation. Once he was done BSing us though, he proceeded to make up the time by driving dangerously fast. We stopped at a gas station on the side of the road for 30 minutes, partly because he neglected to fuel-up in advance and partly because there was someone tagging along with our group that he chose to offload. Afzan then proceeded to continue his attempts to make up time by driving dangerously fast, alternating with driving slowly without watching the road and drifting across lane lines. The Sheikh Zayed Mosque was absolutely amazing, and a welcome reprieve from our incompetent guide, though it would have been easier to enjoy had he answered questions correctly. (“Will I need sunglasses?” was answered with, “No, you will be inside the whole tour,” only to immediately enter a blinding outdoor white marble courtyard for 30 minutes. Thanks for the scorched retinas, Afzan 👍.) Our next destination was labeled an “art museum,” though it was simply a tourist trap souvenir shop with 1’x2’ rugs for $700-mid five figures in a space with a leaky ceiling, mold infested maze designed to separate you from your money more than educate or awe you with local culture. We were able to escape having only lost a bit of time instead of a significant sum of money. We then discussed lunch, for which he assumed that a worldwide fast food chain would be the desired option. When we asked for local, authentic cuisine, the response was, “Oh, do you like spice?!” Excitedly, we replied that some of us do. The location to which he took us had a fine buffet, but no capsaicin in sight. “Oh, local food doesn’t have spice,” was the reply when we inquired about his choice 🤦‍♂️. The rest of the tour had been explained as Heritage village being a tourist targeted open air market, a trip to see the inside of the Emirates Palace, a market with a singular type of fruit, and a drive to the Ferrari World parking lot, where we could, “get out and take pictures, but not go inside.” It was at this point that we chose to cut our losses and see what we could on the drive back to Dubai. We eliminated Heritage Village and the date market, as none of us felt like being accosted at the market nor do any of us have a fetish for dates. We went to the Emirates Palace, in which we had unusually limited access due to a private event which restricted us to the palace entrance. We then drove by Ferrari World on the way back to JBR, choosing not to stop in a parking lot to take pictures of the outside of the building, as it was more convenient to snap a few shots on the drive. At last, it was a quiet and more focused drive on the way back to the hotel, as Afzan had earned his fee for the day and he was no longer compelled to feign competence. Ultimately, we had a “driver” instead of a tour guide, and a poor one at that. The trip was filled with danger, misinformation, and worthless stops to fill the time in order to justify the fees. It’s an absolute shame that this “tour” exists, and worse, that I cannot give less than 1 star. Avoid at all costs.

Very disappointed - Booking got canceled a day before without any reason with an eligible refund. However, it shows my activity has been completed and it’s not easy getting a refund. Very disappointing!!
