Not as good as it used to be. Hidden extras in the evening meal. - This was the third time that I've taken this trip. It's changed. Not as fast and bumpy as I remembered on the dunes. And the music wasn't so racy. I find it best to wear flip flops as I walk bare foot on the warm sand. Easier and no sand in the car either (or in trainers!). The camel rides have been cut short too but it was ok. Won't be doing that again though. Poor camel was so tired and groaning on every 'lift'. He was hardly able to stand. And hard sell again for a longer camel ride for .... more money! I knew it was coming for the extra hard sell for the quad bikes too. Be firm if you don't want to do it. You can't go far in them anyway. The head scarfs you can buy are fun and at only approx £5.50 each and free fitting it's quite good value. Book direct with Alum King if you can and ask exactly what's included. We paid approx £35pp for our safari which ended up at £46pp for the upgrade at the meal. My husband and myself were grouped together with another couple on a slightly different trip. They had the quad bikes included. We had to wait for them but tbh, not a big deal as it was nice to sit and relax and get some pictures of the camels etc... It's great that they were a lovely couple too. Oh and take loo roll! There was none! The toilets were smelly and disgusting. Luckily I take a tiny travel perfume bottle which I had to spray rather than throw up. And hand gel's a plus. No drying towels/hand dryers either. We had the opportunity for the sunset pictures. Shame that the guide didn't help with the shots like the last guide. My granddaughter whom I had with me then was told to jump up and asked me to grab her pony tail. The pic was fantastic and looked like I was pulling her up by her hair. Big shock when it came to the meal. We were told its an extra 50 dirhams each (approx £11.50) to sit on chairs with a table and the food bought to us. It felt like 'us and them' for the people that weren't prepared to have to pay extra or just didn't budget for it. It's nice to sit on a cushion tbh, but we were hungry so paid more to eat before the show was in progress. The other side (on cushions on the sand) had to wait. I felt uncomfortable as a small fence divided us. And TWO stages. The big one for cushion sitters. And a small one for the chair seated. Not a good situation! We felt like we were watching a tennis match. The food was not at all what I've had previously either! The bbq chicken was nice but the salad, potato salad etc.. not so nice. Couldn't eat it. No salt or dressings. What looked like Kentucky Chicken was in fact breaded cauliflower - we think! Second nicest thing to eat though. The currys were very poor and runny. Luke warm too. Again, it was hard sell as your'e hassled by sellers for payable drinks, ice creams etc. Then another change when we were taken to a souvenir shop! We had to wait for the car to be cleaned of sand and tyre pressure adjusted etc... All while being asked if we wanted a drink, souvenir etc.. Not only was it a much longer distance than previous years from the dunes to the venue, but the show was much shorter. The fire dancers were good. Be prepared for extras, extras, extras! One last heads up. If you booked the sand surfing, mention this to your driver BEFORE you set off. They're human and can forget - like ours did. I only booked the trip the last two times because my family members hadn't done it before. Would I book again? Definitely not! It's gone downhill. Although I think it's a lovely experience for a first timer to Dubai. It's great to see the dessert and camels and remember what country you're in. Just be prepared for the extras and don't be too hungry!

Avoid, find another operator! - Not a pleasant experience as a whole. Firstly, the dune bashing lasted only 20 mins (of which 5 mins was a stop to take photos). Secondly, completely excluded sand boarding although this was included in the price (when questioned, we were given a lame excuse). Then the so called camel ride lasted a maximum of 1 minute! If you want a longer ride, be prepared to pay extra! Thirdly; Shisha was meant to be included but this turned out to be yet again a paid extra! The food was not nice and chicken undercooked. I’ve asked for a partial refund Avoid and find another tour operator.
