Experience the history and heritage of Dublin’s Trinity College on a guided walking tour. Walk in the footsteps of generations of students, academics, and graduates as you discover the stories that make Ireland’s oldest university so extraordinary.
Pass by the home of two of the world’s oldest student societies, whose past members include some of Ireland’s most renowned writers including Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker, Samuel Beckett and Sally Rooney. Stroll along pathways lined with historic buildings and discover their hidden stories.
Enjoy the tranquility of Trinity’s leafy squares while learning about the campus’s rich biodiversity. Keep an eye out for native plant life and discover how Trinity is protecting nesting birds and bees across its 47-acre grounds.
Tours are led by Trinity students and alumni. Please note that the tour is in English. It is an outdoor activity, and the ticket does not include access to the Book of Kells or the Old Library.

The Campanile of Trinity College
Enter Trinity College through the front gate of College Green. Your guided walking tour will commence from the Campanile (Bell Tower) in Front Square.

Fun and educational at the same time - We’ve seen the Long Library and the Book of Kells before, but I’m so glad we signed up for the Trinity Trails tour this time as well. Kat was knowledgeable and funny and engaging, and the tour was always interesting. We learned a lot more about the college. Thanks so much!

Get some interesting and entertaining information about Trinity College from students! - We booked the Trinity Trails Campus Tour (plus access to the Book of Kells and the library) a few days before we went to Dublin and enjoyed it very much! The 45-minute-tour was well rounded with interesting facts and funny anecdotes, suited for all ages (in our case: parents + 4 children between 11 and 19), and of course hilariously and congenially presented by our guide Ethan, a recent graduate. We can absolutely recommend the tour!

Excellent tour and one of the best guides! - Excellent way to learn about the college , the library, and the book of Kells (self-guided interactive tour included in the package). Joe, our tour guide, is the college’s student and we got a first hand information not only about the history of the place, but also about the student’s life at the campus. Joe is super engaging and very knowledgeable. He is also very passionate, which makes the tour a memorable experience! We recommend it to everyone! Great tour for a first impression and overview - Our guide Finn was great! He told us all we needed to hear and had funny wide stories as well. All questions were answered and we even got to see one of the buildings from the inside.

Fabulous tour - I really knew nothing about the college before the tour. Our tour guide, Ethan, was witty and charming and gave us a lot of information about the college and its history. I would highly recommend this tour. Make sure you take a look at the library and Book of Kells as well.

Nice tour, unengaging guide - In Dublin, of course, I visited Trinity College. Because the self-guided tour was already full that day, the tour of 45 minutes with guide booked. The guide had memorized the whole story well, but was not engaging. Beautiful walk across the grounds and into the old museum building. However, arriving at the library, the guide was suddenly gone (...) Checked out the very imposing Long Room of the Old Library and the Book of Kells. Too bad that 3/4 of the books had already been removed before the major restoration and digitization in December 2024. The library will then close for several years. As an original bridge, a kind of Book of Kells experience was set up, at the back of the site, where the original is portrayed in image and sound; nice job. Furthermore, it is a beautiful site with beautiful University buildings.
