We recommend this tour - Majella was a great guide for our full day tour. She communicated with us before the day of our tour to confirm time and location of our pickup. She arrived on time and provided us with a wealth of historical information as we made our way out of the city. Even though the weather was a bit gloomy, the tour was well worth it and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get the most out of a tour of the Dublin area.

The perfect tour to finish our Ireland trip - My wife and took this private tour on September 27th 2024. Diana was terrific. We were particularly interested in Glendalough, and St. Kevin in particular. She had maps and old photos (from the 1800's) of the site so we could see how the ruins of St. Kevin's Monastery have been preserved. She was knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions we had. It was a beautiful place, and it really added to our trip. The beauty of the Wicklow Mountains, and Powerscourt was and added treat that rounded out the day. We were delighted to see this part of Ireland with someone so knowledgeable.

A fantastic trip! - My dad and I booked a 1.5 day tour with Diana during our visit to Dublin, and it was absolutely the highlight of our trip! We were interested in seeing the scenery of the Irish countryside outside of Dublin and we only had one specific point of interest we wanted to see (Cliffs of Moher); Diana created an incredible itinerary that delivered exactly that. On our first day she designed a trip around the western countryside, and our second day followed this page's route. Our day one included the Cliffs of Moher with stopping points at a historic castle that is lesser known to tourists, a restaurant for breakfast, the Cliffs of Moher, Ireland’s oldest portal tomb, and Sean’s Bar (Ireland’s oldest pub). She picked us up from our hotel and was an excellent driver and fun conversationalist all day. This trip took us along Ireland’s west coast, farmlands, and winding country roads alike, and allowed us to see how the beautiful landscape in ways that few other available tour companies would have been able to. It was a full day of travel and Diana came prepared with snacks and water for the road, and even brought extra raincoats for the Cliffs of Moher because the weather there tends to be wet even if Dublin is sunny and warm. Diana provided historical context for each site we visited and allowed us to take as much time as we wanted and adjust the itinerary as needed. On our second day, Diana took us around the eastern countryside through the Wicklow Mountains National Park, to the bridge used to film “PS I Love You” (incredibly scenic), Guinness Lake, Powerscourt Gardens, and a Irelands highest waterfall. The scenery on our second day was exceptionally beautiful, and there was no way we would have known about or been able to get to several of these locations without her knowledge, planning, and organization. The two day format of our tour allowed us to compare the western landscapes to the eastern landscapes, which was a fun contrast and I felt that I really got to appreciate the natural beauty of the country. She took the time to plan a very well thought out trip from our vague desire to see Ireland’s landscapes, and she was interested in getting to know us as well during the trip. She took pictures of my dad and I for us, and provided us with an online link to access them promptly after the tours. Overall it was a great experience and I’m very glad we booked a tour with Diana. I highly recommend Gateway to Ireland Tours for anyone visiting the area, even if for a short time!!

A wonderful day in Ireland - It was a wonderful day spent together with Diana. Everything, from the moment of pick-up until the return, was organised by Diana perfectly! We visited all the remarkable and beautiful places, and all our visits were accompanied by historical comments and interesting facts that Diana shared with me. I was especially pleased with Diana’s flexibility, as we put together a route that best suited my preferences and interests. Diana was always happy to help or give me extra time in certain locations. Overall, it was a wonderful day spent with a nice person! Diana is very kind, responsive, tactful and informative! If I'm in Dublin once again, I'll definitely contact her.

Made our Ireland Trip Truly Memorable! - The most memorable part of my daughter's and my week in Ireland was our tours with Diana. Of course we loved the beauty of the Cliffs of Moher, the incredible 12th century castle Rock of Dunamase, the gardens and waterfall at Powerscourt, and Guinness Lake/Estate. Diana brought the history and current-day relevancy to our tour (Vikings; Famine; relations with the UK; Harry Potter 6; Beatles song about Guinness family; bridge from P.S. I Love You film; and my personal favorite the oldest pub in Ireland). Diana was a delightful tour guide, and an excellent driver and navigator (ask her about the tractor...). Highly recommend arranging a custom tour with Gateway to Ireland Tours.

Excellent Day Trip with Beautiful Scenery - Diana was fabulous! As we were in Ireland, unsurprisingly, the forecast called for some rain. Diana did a great job rearranging our day to ensure we maximized the sunny time during our outdoors portions! She did a great job summarizing the history of each location we visited as well as the modern day significance. She picked out a great spot for lunch and had a table reserved so we could get in quickly! Powerscourt is a must see for the garden and water fall! We really enjoyed seeing some of these harder to access sights near Dublin. It was an awesome day and very easy for us!

Wonderful outing - lots to do and see - We went to the Glendalough Monastic Monument, followed by a wonderful and refreshing hike to the Wicklow mountains. We were blessed with good weather. Diana was a fantastic guide, who paid attention to the fact that I enjoyed hiking, which was why the iteniary deviated, that was a great suggestion. The views were stunning. Afterwards, we had tea at Powerscourt. I highly recommend this particular tour! .

Awesome Tour - From the moment we contacted Diana, she was amazing. She responded to every email we sent promptly and helped us create the perfect itinerary based on our must see list. She was very knowledgeable in the history of the places we visited and gave us the perfect amount of time to explore each location. We went to Guinness Lake, Ballinastoe Woods, Wicklow, Glendalough, and Powerscourt Abbey. Highly Recommend.

Wicklow Day Tour - We booked a private day tour with Gateway to Ireland for the Wicklow Mountains and had an amazing day with our guide Diana. Pre-trip communication was clear and responsive to my questions and requests. We visited Glendalough and hiked along the Wicklow Way above Lough Tay (Guiness Lake), which was the main request for the day from the teens in our party. Diana found us a nice vegetarian restaurant for lunch and when our afternoon plan was not met with the expected enthusiasm from the teens, Diana graciously switched gears (and set aside the research she had done for my original request) and came up with other suggestions, which earned a 10/10 from the teens. I had never used a driver/private guide before and it was a splurge. Diana made it worth it and I won't hesitate to hire her again on our next visit to Ireland!

Idyllic day trip with the perfect guide - This day trip to idyllic countryside from Dublin with Diana as our guide was fantastic from beginning to end. I traveled with my two children (10 and 4). It was a very last minute trip, booked the night before, but she was prompt and professional and coordinated all of the logistics. Diana tailored the experience beautifully to make sure that all three of us got maximum enjoyment from the trip. She had deep knowledge about the history around the places we visited, and was very personable. She even offered to take all of the photos of the trip for us to download later, so that we could enjoy the day without taking out our phones. For the kids, she added small little treats, such as a flora/fauna detective hunt at Powerscourt Gardens, a trip to the playground at Powerscourt Waterfall, and an ice cream break at Glendalough. My daughter is obsessed with Tangled (the Rapunzel animated film), and Diana found a way to take us a stone tower at Glendalough that was exactly like the one in the film. Our family is vegetarian, and for lunch Diana found an authentic Irish restaurant in Laragh that was also vegetarian-friendly. We couldn't have asked for a better trip. The sights themselves did not disappoint, and Diana as the guide made sure to keep all ages happy and relaxed throughout.
