Built in 1438 by the esteemed Italian engineer Onofrio della Cava, the fountain was part of an intricate water supply system that transported water from a well-spring over 7 miles away. Despite enduring damage from an earthquake in 1667 and the Croatian War of Independence in the 1990s, the fountain has been beautifully restored and continues to function as a public water source, providing refreshing water to both locals and tourists.
