Short walk from the cruise port - We are staying in Dubrovnik for a few weeks and this was on my list to visit. The location is right by the Gruz cruise port so would be a great excursion for people on their own at port. We ended up spending almost three hours here as there is so much to see and understand Yugoslavia, how they got there and how it all unraveled. It’s interactive, so open the cabinets and explore! Thru even had music of the era you could listen to, movies you can watch (heartbreaking) and other inventions of the time, like the kiosk. They also had a VR headset so you can ‘walk thru’ the old factory that was on the site before. You can grab a beer on the patio afterward if you want. It’s got AC but it’s not super cool in there. Bring your reading glasses as well. Well worth the time to learn about this time.

Nice and interesting museum! - Very nice museum with lots to see! Interesting artifacts and not only placates to read. I'm not huge history buff but my boyfriend is, and we both enjoyed our visit a lot. Not very big place, but definitely worth the price, 9e/adult and 7,5e/student.

Highly recommended - not just for history or Yugoslavia geeks - I loved the museum - a fascinating look at life in socialist Croatia during the time of Tito and Yugoslavia. It's similar to the GDR Museum in Berlin but a bit more objective and serious. The rest of the family liked it too. I was unsure if my 10 year old son would appreciate it. But the hands-on nature of so many exhibits kept his interest, although he lingered less to read everything than I did!

Interactive story of the old Yugoslavia - Great museum with interesting and interactive displays explaining the history of the old Yugoslavia and events leading up to Croatia’s independence. The written descriptions of historical events are very clearly written and intertwined with lots of industrial, cultural and sporting artefacts to tell the story of the rise and fall of communist Yugoslavia. Well worth the entrance fee and about an hour of your time if you are interested in modern history.

A walk through Lights and Shadows of History, exposed objectively and in a fascinating way - A well-thought-out and well-realized project, which provides the visitor with both a historical overview of the principles of communism and their spread in the early 1900s, as well as the reality of everyday life until the collapse of Yugoslavia. The descriptions are captivating and historically accurate, it is not a celebration of communism, nor its demonization: the denials of fundamental freedoms, but also the achievements and popularity of Tito, are exposed so that the visitor can form his own and critical idea. The collection of vintage objects and the explanations that bring it to life are remarkable, from spices to leisure, from the telephone to sexuality. A must-see, from which every kind of audience can come out enriched... and quenched: recommend the historic Cedevita and Cockta drinks!

Realistic little window to history - The museum offered everything I expected and more! The communist lifestyle and social realism was very well put forward, and we found many household items reminding us of our youth in Finland - if not communist, close to the eastern block anyways. This is how the history should be told - not to cover the sometimes darker aspects, but to tell everything openly.

A walk of joy!! - I was automatically drawn to this museum when booking my itinerary for my trip to Dubrovnik - mostly because I enjoy history and studied the politics of the former Yugoslavia when studying at university - was not disappointed. The guy working on the reception was extremely friendly and willing to answer questions about the information that was presented a long the walk - he was extremely knowledgeable and we were able to have a non-judgemental conversation about European history in general. Definitely recommend that you visit this quaint little place!!

Back in time. - We loved the museum. It’a nice small and quirky. Everyone should see it. Also, it’s really affordable. I wish though that the last years of how the system broke down would have been more displayed. Nevertheless, great thing to do.

Enjoyable experience - Enjoyable experience. Gave an insight into what life was like in the old Yugoslavia. Very text heavy but well worth a visit.

If you have an Intrest well worth a visit - In our group we had some who really enjoyed this museum and some that didn’t. If you have any interest in history this is for you. It’s interactive and that helped keep some Intrest in the museum. Man who was working was very friendly and welcoming.
