Edinburgh to Aberdeen

Montrose - Traveling north from Dundee, the journey continues to the charming town of Montrose for a lunch break. The northeast coast is celebrated for its delectable seafood, so be sure to sample some if possible.
St Cyrus - Enjoy a photo opportunity at the seaside location of St Cyrus.
Dunnottar Castle - After a brief stop at St Cyrus, the tour proceeds to the magnificent Dunnottar Castle, a renowned landmark of the northeast. Perched on a rocky headland and encircled by water, near Stonehaven, the castle boasts a rich history dating back to the Early Middle Ages and played a significant role during the 18th-century Jacobite risings. Spend time exploring the rugged coastline, soaking in the breathtaking views (don’t forget your camera), and discovering the castle’s intriguing past.
Stonehaven - Following the visit to Dunnottar Castle, the tour heads to the picturesque town of Stonehaven below. Here, there is time to explore the seaside town’s streets and shops, or savor local cuisine from acclaimed spots like The Bay fish and chip shop or Aunt Betty’s ice cream, both located on the seafront promenade and well-known throughout the northeast.
Aberdeen to Edinburgh
Crathes Castle - With its splendid turrets, gargoyles, and a charming walled garden, Crathes Castle is a wonderful destination. Spend time absorbing the history of the 16th-century castle and exploring its magnificent grounds dating back to the 18th century. While visiting, watch for local wildlife such as roe deer, red squirrels, and herons.
Ballater - The journey continues westward through scenic towns like Banchory and the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside to Ballater, where a lunch break is scheduled. Enjoy local cuisine while admiring the scenery of the Victorian village, nestled in Royal Deeside’s heart and within the Cairngorms National Park.
Balmoral Castle - The next stop is the iconic Balmoral Castle, the cherished Highland residence of the British Monarchy. Visitors can explore the exhibitions, learn about the castle’s history, its residents, and significant events associated with it. Additionally, enjoy the castle’s spectacular grounds.
Perth - As the tour continues south, the final stop before reaching Edinburgh is the city of Perth. This area has been inhabited since the Stone Age, with evidence still present nearby. After a brief comfort break to explore the historic city, the journey back to Edinburgh begins. There will be another opportunity to view the magnificent Forth Bridges while crossing the Forth for the second time before arriving back in Edinburgh, the capital city, where the 2-day tour of northeast Scotland concludes.

Our 2-day tour starts at 09:00 from Edinburgh. Passing the iconic Forth Bridges, we head to Dundee, known for its V&A Museum. We continue north to Montrose for lunch, famous for seafood. Next, St Cyrus and Dunnottar Castle await, offering rugged coastline views and rich history. In Stonehaven, explore the town before heading to Aberdeen for overnight stay.
Day 2 begins with a visit to Crathes Castle west of Aberdeen, renowned for its gardens and history. Lunch in Ballater precedes our tour of Balmoral Castle, the Highland retreat of the British Monarchy. Heading south, we stop at Devil’s Elbow for Highland vistas and wildlife spotting. After a break in Perth, known for its ancient history, we return to Edinburgh via the Forth Bridges, concluding our journey.
- Please arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before your tour’s departure time.
- Luggage is restricted to one medium sized suitcase per person. For guidance: a medium sized suitcase is considered 60-69cm high and roughly 45cm in width.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately.
- If booking your own accommodation, it must be within 1km of Aberdeen town centre.
- Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or a full refund.
- Minimum age is 4 years.
- Collapsible wheelchairs with removable wheels can be accommodated providing the passenger is accompanied by someone who can assist them board and disembark.
