Fun trip to Skye and Inverness - We met early on Monday to travel to Fort William. We rode the Jacobite Train to Mallaig. This is one of the great train rides of the world. Very fun and beautiful to travel over the Glenfinnan viaduct (Harry Potter fame). After lunch in Mallaig we got on the ferry to Skye and on to Portree. This is a beautiful town and very crowded in the summer. Fun to walk around and snap many photos. Next day we were on to Dunvegan Castle, Glendale to see the light house. Then on to the Fairy Pools and the Trotternish peninsula. The Fairy Glen was very beautiful and calming. Many stunning sites on our way back to Portree to do a little shopping. Next day on our way to Inverness. Stopping at Eilean Donan Castle for lovely photos. Inverness is a scenic town and we had dinner. This tour is packed with awesome stops. Thursday morning we were up early for our trip to Urquhart Castle via the Jacobite boat tours on Loch Ness. Very informative and exciting morning tour on Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. We also made the stop at Culloden and the Cairns. This is a very somber site, English and Scottish soldiers fighting for control and this was very devastating war lasting for a very short 45 minutes, however, this historical fight devasted the Scots for decades. My daughter and I enjoyed every minute of this tour. Our tour guide, Struan, was a very caring and informative guide. We hated to say goodbye. Back in Edinburgh on Thursday night and the end of a wonderful tour with a wonderful guide. Thank you Slainte Scotland and especially Struan. May 2019.

Unforgettable! - HIGLY RECOMMENDED! We had an incredible experience on our trip with Helmut, our guide. First of all, the tour was meant to be for 8/10 people but even if it was just the two of us because the others cancelled, they were so kind not to cancel the tour. The tour is well organized, it gives you the chance to see beautiful landscapes, castles, nature and villages. Moreover Helmut was very available, kind and friendly! We highly recommend this trip and in particular SlainteScotland for their efficiency and reliability.

Trip of a Lifetime! - We completed a 4 day tour of the Highlands and Skye with our guide Barry. Absolute, hands down, one the best times I have had in a long long time. My wife and I are in our late 30s / early 40s and found this trip to be a perfect blend of outdoor activities, knowledge of the local areas and scenery like no other. The Slainte Group is highly professional, punctual, fun and makes you feel like you are with long time friends when you are around them. We were a small group which is their specialty, which was a big differentiator from the other groups seen on the tours. Barry was the perfect combination of great Scotland humor and professional. Only draw back is Barry is really hard on the eyes - no Jamie Fraser! Love you Barry and Cat can’t thank you enough for being with us for honoring my mother.

Better than I could have imagined! - I went on a trip with some friends and we had a BLAST!! Our guide, Barry, was a ton of fun and very knowledgeable. This company was easy to work with and willing to customize our trip to what we wanted to do and how we wanted to experience Scotland. I would absolutely recommend this group to anybody seeking a quality trip and great experience during their stay.

Amazing trip and so informative!! - I can't say enough good things about this trip or our guide Barry (sorry if that's not the way you spell it!). I recommend anyone who is wanting an in depth trip to the Highlands and an upper island to book with this company. They are prompt when replying to questions and very personable. With this tour, it was me and 2 of my friends and he just absolutely made the entire trip fun, informative, and so relaxing. He showed us the best spots to see the most of wherever we were, and made the trip as personable as possible. The Isle of Skye is absolutely gorgeous and Barry made sure we say the beauty of it all. I literally can't say enough good things about Barry and how amazing this trip was. This is my second tour with this company and I recommend them 10/10.

Communication needs to be improved - Out of my trip to Scotland, this was the tour I most looking forward too, but the most anxiety it caused. Everything was fine until a few weeks before I was due to go the tour, the itinerary had changed around on the website (after a number of email requests, I never got sent an itinerary), I was left in a complete panic thinking I booked the wrong accommodation. I lost money in booking the incorrect date for the Jacobite train. Friends thought it was strange that I wasn’t looking forward to my first trip to Scotland. I couldn’t when I was still left in the dark about this tour. On the morning of the tour, at no time did the tour guide come up to me to check if I was on the tour. I was lucky I approached the car to ask - I have a feeling he would have simply gone without me. During the day things didn’t seem right, like the guide didn’t want to be on the tour. On the website it mentioned a story about Glencoe - the guide said there was nothing special about Glencoe (yes there is). After being lucky the week before in getting a ticket for the train, I had just made the train departure. I felt the tour guide wasn’t happy I was the only one going on the train. For the rest of the afternoon things just didn’t feel right, we all agreed with the guide that we would start at 8am to get to the over touristy fairy pools. The next morning it was 8:20am and no pick-up. After my confidence had been diminished with the lack of communication. All thoughts had gone through me - the tour guide went without me; I have paid all this money just to be like all the other tourists to post on Instagram; can I afford a taxi; should have booked with the other tour company that I can see driving around. Finally after using the chat messaging on the website (this was the only way I could communicate with the company), I got an answer - we had a new tour guide. I was a bit relieved, as the previous tour guide was a bit cold. The new tour guide handled the situation and we went on with the day. He didn’t no about the area or the history. I felt so touristy and felt silly contributing to overpopulating the area at the fairy pools. It wasn’t until the evening that I booked a walking tour with a local that I enjoyed my time in Portree. He new all about the history of the Isle of Skye (including the fairy pools) and Portree - I walked away with more knowledge, highlight of my time in Portree. The next day, we got another guide and owner of the tour. Finally there was no mucking about. We were to spend specific amount of time at each location to stick to the itinerary. He knew all the history and background of all of Scotland. When we got to Inverness, he made sure you where checked into your accommodation and made sure you where picked up the next day on time. I am glad I did it, the highlands and the Isle of Skye are absolutely beautiful and it was without the the stress of hiring a car and driving around by myself.
