The Hermitage Woodland Walk - The first stop provides an excellent chance to stretch your legs in one of Highland Perthshire’s most picturesque locations. Enjoy a walk through the woods, surrounded by a mix of conifer and deciduous trees, including one of Britain’s tallest Douglas firs. The trail leads to the breathtaking Black Linn Falls, a highlight of the journey.
Pitlochry VisitScotland iCentre - Pitlochry, a charming Victorian town, is where we’ll pause for a scenic photo opportunity. With its quaint streets and stunning surroundings, it’s the perfect place to capture the essence of this historic town. Explore unique local shops, including the Heather Gems factory and exhibition, where you can find exquisite handcrafted Scottish jewellery. This stop offers a delightful mix of photography and shopping in one of Scotland’s prettiest towns. Lunch is available but not included.
Queen’s View - A brief stop at the iconic Queen’s View offers a perfect spot for breathtaking photos. With spectacular panoramic views over Loch Tummel and the majestic Schiehallion mountain, this viewpoint is one of the most beautiful and renowned in Scotland. It’s the ideal place to take in the stunning natural landscape and capture unforgettable photos.
Culloden Battlefield - At Culloden, enjoy free time to explore the fascinating interactive exhibition, which delves into the history of this pivotal battle, and browse the shop for unique Scottish souvenirs. Afterward, your guide will lead a detailed tour of the battlefield, where you’ll stand on the very ground where the Jacobite forces made their final stand. Through vivid storytelling and historical insight, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of this significant event in Scottish history, making this visit an unforgettable experience.
Clava Cairns - A brief stop at the ancient Clava Cairns, a 4,000-year-old burial site steeped in history and mystery, offers the opportunity to explore the fascinating burial cairns and walk among the atmospheric standing stones, connecting with Scotland’s distant past in this peaceful and intriguing location.
We will then proceed to Inverness, arriving around 6 pm. Please note that accommodation is not included, so please inform us of your lodging arrangements.
Explore Three Castles - Ruined, Rebuilt, and Lived In, and Hunt for a Monster in Loch Ness.
Urquhart Castle - Check out of your Inverness accommodation by 9 AM (exact timing will depend on your location). We’ll then head to the impressive ruins of Urquhart Castle, where you’ll discover its rich history. You’ll also have the chance to dip your hand into the legendary Loch Ness and try some Nessie spotting from one of the best vantage points along the loch. The combination of history and stunning views makes this a truly memorable stop!
Eilean Donan Castle - Visit the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, beautifully rebuilt on the shores of Loch Alsh. Famous for its appearances in Hollywood films such as Highlander and, more recently, Robert the Bruce, Eilean Donan is also renowned as one of Scotland’s most photographed castles. During our stop, you’ll have the chance to explore the castle grounds and grab a quick lunch at the castle’s café (lunch not included).
Neist Point - Weather permitting, we’ll visit Neist Point, the most westerly point on Skye. On a clear day, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Uists. However, if the weather is misty, we may adjust the stop, as the stunning vistas are best enjoyed in clear conditions.
Dunvegan Castle & Gardens - During the Summer months: Dunvegan Castle, the ancestral seat of Clan MacLeod for over 800 years, offers a fascinating glimpse into centuries of history. You’ll have the chance to explore the family home of the Clan Chief and stroll through its beautiful gardens—imagine the stories those ancient walls could tell!
Afterwards, we’ll head to Portree, where the day will conclude around 6 PM. Please note, accommodation in Portree is not included, but you’ll be staying here for two nights to fully enjoy the area.
Walk in the Steps of Dinosaurs, Gaels, and the Wee Folk.
The Old Man of Storr - We’ll head towards the stunning Old Man of Storr viewpoint. If the weather is on our side, we’ll take the opportunity to hike to the top, offering incredible views of the surrounding landscape.
Lealt Falls - We’ll stop at the Lealt Falls Viewing Platform, offering spectacular views. For the more adventurous, there’s also time to descend to the Mine Viewing Platform. However, please note that the path is uneven with some steep inclines, so take care as you explore.
Kilt Rock - We’ll make a photo stop at the iconic Kilt Rock, where you can admire the striking cliff face resembling a kilt’s pleats. In addition to the breathtaking views, you’ll also learn about the fascinating dinosaur discoveries made on the island nearby, adding another layer of intrigue to this incredible location.
Fairy Glen - Our next stop is the captivating Fairy Glen near Uig, a mystical landscape filled with unusual rock formations, rolling hills, and lush greenery that feels straight out of a fairytale. As you explore the Glen, you’ll discover hidden paths and ancient stone circles that add to the magical atmosphere. Although the trails can be steep and uneven, the reward is a breathtaking panoramic view that captures the essence of Skye’s beauty. It’s a place where folklore and nature intertwine, offering an unforgettable experience for those who make the climb.
Portree VisitScotland iCentre - We plan to arrive back in the picturesque town of Portree between 3 and 4 PM, allowing you ample time to explore the island’s vibrant capital. Stroll through its quaint streets, visit the colourful harbour, or simply relax and soak in the charm of this bustling hub. The tour for the day will come to a close as we reach Portree, leaving you with the rest of the afternoon to discover its hidden gems at your leisure.

Glenfinnan Monument - For those not joining the Steam Train, and for everyone during our Winter Schedule, we’ll visit the remarkable Glenfinnan Monument. Set against a backdrop of towering mountains, this site commemorates the Jacobite uprising and offers breathtaking views of the famous viaduct, known worldwide from the Harry Potter films. This stop provides the perfect opportunity to soak in the beauty of the Highlands while connecting with both Scotland’s rich history and a touch of cinematic magic.
Fort William VisitScotland iCentre - We will then reunite with those taking the steam train at the station in Fort William. Please note that this meet-up only occurs during the summer months, when the steam train is in operation.
The Three Sisters - Next, we’ll journey to the breathtaking Glencoe, where we’ll pause for a short but unforgettable photo stop at the iconic Three Sisters. These majestic, towering peaks form part of the dramatic landscape of Glencoe, offering stunning views that perfectly capture the wild beauty of the Scottish Highlands. This scenic stop provides the perfect opportunity to admire and photograph one of Scotland’s most iconic natural wonders.
An Ceann Mor - Our final stop on the tour brings us to Inveruglas, nestled on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Here, you’ll have a short comfort break with the chance to stretch your legs and take in the serene beauty of Scotland’s largest loch. With its tranquil waters framed by rolling hills, Inveruglas offers a peaceful moment to soak in the breathtaking scenery before we conclude our journey.
We will arrive back in Glasgow for 7 pm and Edinburgh for 8 pm where the tour will end.
