Off-road adventure! - Our guide was Jay. He is very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. He was great with the child on the trip. He would stop by streams and show him what types of rocks to look for. He showed him how to break a rock to look for silver or gold inside. We had a fun afternoon.

Fabulous scenery, and an amazing tour guide - The tour itself was fabulous. What made it even better was our tour guide, Tosh Black! Not only did he give us the history, he really connected with us as his audience and pointed out things that he knew we would be interested in. Tosh was very accommodating with any of our request. As far as the scenery, one of my husband‘s bucket list items was to climb a mountain, which he will probably never do. But this excursion made him feel like he did, and it was so exhilarating for him, as well as it was for me and our son. When we come back to Durango, we will definitely take this adventure again.

Durango visit - Great trip with Jared. He told and showed us so much of the area. We learned so much about Durango and the area with him. Highly suggest this tour, and if Jared is your guide, it is a added bonus! We even had the great fall trees!

Jerry-we loved you!!! Great trip - Our driver was Jerry, who offered blankets, water, granola bars. He was fun and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He knew his history and information, and kept us entertained, and safe while we climbed to the top in the covered jeep. This trip was breathtakingly beautiful, and Jerry stopped at all the right times!

Must Do in Silverton - We went on the jeep tour the last week in September 2024 that takes you up to Silverton where we took the train back to Durango.
Jared picked us up at the Mild & Wild sign and seating area in the train station parking lot right on time with what appeared to be, a new shuttle bus; one of three in their fleet.
He was very knowledgeable of the sights and he gave us a play by play of many of the historic locations as we made our way to Silverton.
He dropped us off at the center of town, where the public restrooms were. As a side note, the restrooms were in very good condition, also appeared fairly new and rather large. We had about 30 minutes to walk around before he came back with the jeep to take us on our tour.
The jeep was a fairly new Jeep Gladiator. Please note that this is important since I had been on another jeep tour in Red River where the jeep broke down halfway up the mountain. There were 7 in our group; there was plenty of room.
We stopped at several historic points of interest before taking a trail above the tree line. On that trail, we stopped and got out at several of the old mining camps where Jared explained the history of each building and how the mining operation worked.
We stopped at a waterfall and explored so there was a bit of hiking involved. Jared was insistent that we stay hydrated and he brought plenty of water for everyone. The trail was rather rugged so I doubt a car would make it. It was fairly steep and there were lots of rocks; not a big challenge for the Gladiator with rock crawler tires.
The scenery was amazing being the perfect time when the leaves were changing.
Overall, the best jeep tour we had experienced. We had so many questions and Jared was a regular Wikipedia on mining, Silverton, and geology.

Highly recommend! - This was a great tour! Our guide, Jerry, was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He made sure we saw the waterfalls and also shared information about wildlife and the geology of the area. We saw some beautiful views, also. Jerry was very personable and humorous. This was a great way to see and learn about the area.

A Fantastic Adventure! - This was a fantastic adventure! I think mild wild is the way to go if you're planning to ride the Durango Silverton train. You get an awesome trip from Durango up to Silverton in a van shuttle with an expert driver. Our driver was Mr Lee. He did an exceptional job of informing us, and taking great care of us during our trip up to Silverton, and our subsequent jeep adventure thereafter. To say it was an incredible adventure is an understatement. It made such a difference having an expert guide along the way. I consider myself a very good driver. My profession is truck driving so I have accumulated a vast number of miles in my 20 years of experience, but you don't get to enjoy it like you would if you were a passenger. Also, I usually have great anxiety when others are driving and not myself, but not with Mr Lee he made me feel at ease and confident in his ability right away. It takes a lot of training and wisdom to be able to handle those mountains, and especially the off-road Terrain which Lee was trained in. I believe I would have had too much anxiety, and not enjoyed the trip as much, had I just took the forerunner up the mountain myself for the first time. It's such a pleasure to have someone else drive and just enjoy the scenery and knowledge they share. It also gave me more confidence that maybe next time I might decide to Drive it out myself. I swear the whole time my wife and i kept feeling like we were in a painting or a movie. It didn't seem real the beauty that we were surrounded by. Fortunately any time we wanted to stop, and at different times where he knew really cool things were, he would let us get out and touch colorado and explore. We ran into lots of folks that were adventurers. Making a go of it by themselves, and not doing a very good job at it. I think I probably would have cussed them myself for the way they were driving, but Lee was a constant professional and made sure to keep us out of harm's way. We got to see all kinds of old mine camps and mines. It was so cool just to really feel like your part of something so beautiful. He would often times pull off and show us an amazing scenery that we wouldn't have caught had we not known where to look. He would then offer to take our picture and did so frequently throughout the trip. When our time ended with Mr Lee we were left to explore Silverton on our own, and enjoyed the various shops and lunch at a realy good restaurant "Handle Bars". We had a delicious elk burger, mud pie and bread pudding dessert. We then caught the train back to Durango. ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!! You just don't get to see this stuff unless you're on that train. The mountains, the waterfalls, the wildlife, just incredible... We wouldn't have missed it for the world. However, I do believe that it would not be nearly as fun trying to ride the train up from Durango, and back down again three and a half hours each way. That's just too much... The Mild to Wild jeep adventure and train is the only way to go! If you are as fortunate as we are, maybe you will get Mr Lee too. Happy trails friends!

Will return - Bella was an awesome guide! The history was engaging. I expected to see a little more but the snow limited the tour. Only complaint is that sitting in the jeep with benches facing each other made it difficult to see some of the sights Bella pointed out
