Additional Information

Childukhtaron, a historical valley in Tajikistan’s southern region, is enveloped by majestic mountains sculpted to resemble forty females. This locale, known as ‘The Valley of Forty Girls’, carries a fascinating folklore. Tradition holds that the 40 towering stone formations were once captivating young maidens. When invaders threatened to seize them as their courtesans, these mountain dwellers pleaded to Allah to morph them into silent pillars of stone. Another local tale suggests that the stones were formed after a bitter confrontation with Genghis Khan, where 40 brave female horse-riders held off the legendary conqueror, though eventually meeting their demise in battle. While in Tajikistan, the Valley of the Forty Girls is a sight you wouldn’t want to miss, particularly during the stunning spring season.

Scenic drive and stunning rock formation - Lots of driving through beautiful landscapes before arriving at this special place. Enjoyed watching life go by on farms and in villages along the road, and the lake by a damm was very pretty. Stunning views and few visitors made this feel like a very peaceful place. The pickup was punctual, good driver and friendly guide, and while the lunch was fairly dull this was overall a very nice day. Lots of opportunities to take good pictures. The trip took 10h with a stop at the Hulbuk Castle on the way back. Overall, expensive trip but a big delight. If you can afford it don’t hesitate to go there.
