Hisor Fortress - Journey to Hisor
Hisor Fortress - Explore the Fortress and Museum of Hisor – Visit Teahouse “Kharbuza” and Museum of Mirzo Tursunzod. Upon arrival at Dushanbe International Airport, a driver will greet you and transport you to Hisor Fortress, which once served as a palace for a Bukhara Emirate beck. The fortress, with its 1-meter thick walls and gun and cannon loopholes, stood majestically on a high hill and was well-protected. Inside, there was a pool and a garden. Opposite the fortress was a bustling market square featuring a caravanserai and various shops. Hisor Fortress and the town were inhabited from the 6th century BC to the mid-19th century, serving as the main administrative, political, and economic center of the Hisor Valley. Teahouse Kharbuza is a unique structure, built in the shape of a melon (Tajik: kharbuza). The teahouse, standing 43 meters tall, 100 meters long, and 55 meters wide, can accommodate 2,300 visitors simultaneously. Return to Dushanbe / hotel.

Tajikistan is traversed by three branches of the historic Great Silk Road: 1) The Northern/Sogdian route, which extends from Samarkand (Uzbekistan) to Kashgar (China); 2) The West-East/Karotegin route, connecting Termez (Uzbekistan) to Kashgar (China); 3) The Southern/Pamir route, linking Termez (Uzbekistan) to Tashkent (China). These ancient pathways were established by the Persian, Greek, Chinese, and Arab civilizations, significantly enhancing global socio-economic relations, trade, and culture from the 5th to the 12th centuries. To explore the impact of these routes on the culture and civilization of the Tajik people, a tour package titled “Great Silk Road in Tajikistan” will be offered.
