Historical site - Hissar Fortress used to be the palace of one of Bukhara's Emirate becks. The only remaining part is a monumental gate made from burned bricks with two cylindrical towers with an arrow-shaped arch between them. Be sure to check out the small museum in the 16th century Madrasah.

Quick Look at Hisor - I enjoyed a brief time looking at the restored ruins of Hisor fortress. Aziz escorted me to this settlement on the old Silk Road, located about 40 km. west of Dushanbe. Akmal was my information guide. He provided great detail about the history of the site, and its connection to the development of life in Tajikistan. Short and sweet visit.
