Qalaikhumb - Today, we will journey to the village of Kalai Khum. Along the way, you’ll witness the Norak water reservoir, often referred to as the Blue Sea. The highest point of our trip today is the Shurabad Pass at 2,200 meters. Following this, our drive will take us along the Afghanistan border. This segment will captivate you with its distinctive mountains, marking the beginning of the Pamir Mountains territory. Throughout history, the Pamirs have inspired some of the world’s most renowned explorers, including Marco Polo, Hsuan Tsang, and Mirza Muhammad Haidar. Now, you too have the opportunity to explore this region. We will drive along the natural border formed by the Pyanj River. Many travelers who have visited the Pamirs have described this vast mountain system as an ocean of white and blue peaks. Tonight, you’ll stay in a local home, giving you a glimpse into the daily life of the residents.

Osh - After breakfast, we set off for Karakul, a 135 km journey. We will traverse several high-altitude passes, including the Ak-Baital Pass at 4,655 meters, the highest road section in the former Soviet Union. We then descend to Karakul Lake and cross our final high pass on the Pamir Highway, the Kyzyl Art Pass at 4,282 meters, which essentially marks the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Karakul Lake, situated at 3,915 meters, is the highest lake in Central Asia and is too elevated to support aquatic life. The drive offers a stark contrast as we move from the barren high-altitude plateau of Tajikistan to the lush farmlands and small villages of Kyrgyzstan. Along the way, we cross the Taldyk Pass at 3,554 meters and enjoy stunning views. If we’re fortunate, we might even catch a glimpse of Peak Lenin, which at 7,134 meters is the second-highest mountain in Central Asia.
