DUSHANBE TO DARVOZ (KALAIKHUM) 5–6 HRS
Dushanbe International Airport - Drive towards Kulob on A385 road. Enjoy the views of one of the world’s highest hydropower station Nurek in a distance. Visit 11th-century Hulbuk Palace before Kulob village. Head on to the Shurobod pass. After the pass, deep rocky valleys and gorgeous mountains open up. Drive along Panj River with amazing mountain views and through numerous local villages. Arrival in Kalaikhum village. Dinner and overnight in a homestay.

KHOROG CITY - ISHKASHIM VILLAGE - YAMCHUN FORTRESS & HOT SPRINGS - LANGAR VILLAGE, 5-6 HR

Breathtaking Pamir landscapes - I joined a group driving from Dushanbe to Osh in 7 days, Aug2024. It was definitely one of the best adventure trips I’ve ever done! I can only recommend!!
Our driver and guide Mahmadnazar was the best, not only an excellent driver with a new toyota land cruiser, but also very kind and fun to be around. Try to go with him 😉
We paid the tour in advance and brought Tajik som and USD for the homestays and restaurants along the way.
If you enjoy getting off the car a bit more, I’d recommend the 10-day tour. Bring warm clothes and be careful not to drink any tap water.

Through the pamir in 10 days - Our driver and guide Kokon was a very pleasant, spirited company and
organised everything in an efficient and reliable way. He showed us the
beauties of the Panj river valley, Wakhan corridor and of the Pamir
Plateau and explained many things to us. He showed us animals, including a Marco Polo sheep, many Yaks, Ibexes and Marmots. Especially the drive down to Jarty Gumbez, Shorbulak observatory, and the two Kukjigit Lakes was a very
good experience. Thanks to Kokon (and for a short while our driver in
Kirgistan) the trip was a very good adventure. This also includes the
four hikes we went on: Bartang valley to Jizev, Engels Peak meadowd, the Panorama Ridge trail and later the trail at Lenin peak up to travelers pass (highest 4750 m!)
It was a good decision to spend 10 days for the tour and not reduce it to a shorter time as many do. We could have even spent more time, for example at Karakul lake, to walk and see more of it.
Altogether, many thanks to the Alay team and to Kokon for the great tour.

Unforgettable Experience! - I travel solo and appreciate that Visit Alay helped creating a group so I was able to share the trip cost with other travellers! It was a 9D8N trip from Dushanbe to Osh and the trip was fun! It was truly an amazing ezperience. Breathtaking sceneries and lovely people we met along the trip make the trip even more unforgettable. Shout out to our super experienced driver Sham! He is a very nice person and helped arranging decent accomodation for all of us.

WOW WOW WOW……..WOW! A journey we will never forget. - An absolute amazing experience! We have seen many beautiful places but a trip on the Pamir highway exposed us to such breathtaking beauty that we could not have imagined. Visit Alay took care of coordinating our pick up, the necessary paperwork to cross into Kyrgyzstan and the easy transfer to another vehicle once we crossed into Kyrgyzstan. They also coordinated with the driver to ensure the appropriate copies of our passport and GBAO permits were made for the many check points. We do want to point out that a trip of this length means a good driver is crucial. A driver that engages with you and really becomes part of the journey. Sali was our driver in Tajikistan and Kairat in Kyrgyzstan. Both drivers made our trip and we felt very safe with them. Both were extremely kind, very helpful and thoughtful . They were excellent people to be with for many days. The cost of the trip is expensive but we think worth every penny!

Wonderful Pamir Highway - Thanks Sali and to our driver Sham for taking us through this wonderful journey. We had some really nice hikes in the mountains. The scenery during the drive was amazing. Recommend to stay at the home stays which are available in most places.

Wonderful tour, amazing landscapem great welcoming and professionality - The tour was well organized, landscape and locations were gorgeous, homestays and yurta camp exceeded the expectations and offered a great welcoming, drivers were polite and professional "Visit Alay" is doing a great job in sustaining ecotourism and local communities.

Great experience - The tour was fantastic, the views along the Highway are some of the best I’ve ever seen. Altynbek was a really amazing driver too and I recommend him to anyone planning on taking this tour.

Nice landscape and driver. Be flexible because your itinerary may change because of problems on the road. - During the tour, we have seen very beautiful landscapes and enjoyed these incredible mountains.
Our main driver Chamil was very nice. He drove safely, knew how to adapt the program because of external factors and always care if we were fine. The car was confortable.
The management of the agency was disappointing, as they were just letting drivers solve problems. Nevertheless the system to find a group when you are alone is useful.

Great experience! - Overall great experience the driver from Dushanbe was amazing and informative however there was an issue with car suspension but couldn’t be fixed until he got parts at the boarder. The car on the Kyrgyzstan side was not in such good condition with the electric windows and ac not working among other things. However none of this was a major issue and overall had a great time. The loss of one star is the communication prior to the trip from Sali with often no response on questions and having to follow up then receiving partial answers. Pamir hwy is a must do while in Central Asia!!
