A Skyward Journey

As a former professional surfer, I’ve always been drawn to the thrill of the ocean, but this time, I decided to trade the waves for the skies. The Rockland Estate in St. Maarten promised an adventure that would take me to new heights, and I was eager to experience it firsthand. The elevation drop was a thrilling 1050 feet, and as I reached the bottom, I couldn’t help but let out a whoop of joy.

Surfing the Mountain

The adventure didn’t end there. Next up was the Schooner Ride, an inner tube experience that had me “surfing” down the mountain on a dry track. It was a unique twist on my usual ocean adventures, and I relished the opportunity to try something new. The ride was a delightful mix of speed and laughter, a perfect way to cap off an exhilarating day.

Throughout the experience, I couldn’t help but appreciate the rich history of the Rockland Estate. From the 1700s plantation house to Emilio Wilson’s legacy, the estate offered a glimpse into the island’s past, adding depth to the day’s adventures. And when it was time to unwind, Emilio’s Restaurant provided a cozy spot to relax and reflect on the day’s thrills.
