Enjoy a journey to the Roman ruins in Algeria, located about an hour’s drive from Algiers.
Our first stop will be Cherchell (optional), a town founded by Phoenicians from Carthage around 400 BC. Situated on the northern Maghreb coast, 100 km west of Algiers, it was established as a trading post.
Cherchell became part of the Kingdom of Numidia under Jugurtha, who died in 104 BC. It served as a significant city for the Berber monarchy and its generals.
Next, we’ll head to the port of Tipaza for a lunch of grilled fresh fish, which is included in your tour package.
When it was part of the Roman Empire, Tipaza was known for its ancient ruins and sandy coastline. The modern town, founded in 1857, is notable for these historical remnants.
Originally a Punic trading post, Tipaza was conquered by Ancient Rome and transformed into a military colony by Emperor Claudius for the conquest of the Mauretanian kingdoms.
After our visit, we’ll drive back to Algiers and drop you off at your hotel.
