Highlights
  • Beachy Head - Beachy Head is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, rising to 162 m (531 ft) above sea level.

The highlight of the tour is to see the iconic red and white striped lighthouse standing 33m tall at the base of the cliff.

  • Birling Gap - Birling Gap is a beautiful and tranquil enclosed pebble beach set below the dramatic backdrop of the Seven Sisters cliffs. We’ll see it’s famous metal steps allowing visitors to descend to the beach. Close by are the historic Coastguard Cottages which are regrettably being lost to the sea.
  • Belle Tout Lighthouse Lookout - Built in 1832 and decommissioned in 1902, a tea-shop, a home, part-destroyed during the second world war and lovingly rebuilt in the 50’s. Owned and filmed by the BBC, moved due to erosion - and now, beautifully restored and renovated.
  • Seven Sisters Country Park - The Seven Sisters are the famous chalk cliffs that form part of the Sussex Heritage Coast.

It is an incredibly popular location for locals and international visitors who come to experience this magnificent stretch of coastline between Seaford and Eastbourne.

Regrettably, it is slowly being eroded by the elements. It’s estimated that 30-40cm of the coastal edge is lost to the sea each year and we’ll spend time on the trip to discuss this in more detail.

It is a haven for wildlife, especially migratory birds who enjoy the temperate British summers.

  • Cuckmere Haven - The beach was commonly used by smugglers in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. It wasn’t uncommon for there to be upwards of 200 of them on the beach at that time.

The coastguard cottages at Cuckmere Haven were built shortly after the National Coastguard Service was founded in 1822 in order to stop the smuggling. They are easily one of the most photographed dwellings in the UK today.

Additional Information

Join us on an award-winning, action-packed RIB ride along the breathtaking East Sussex coastline. Treat yourself to a magical day out and see this fantastic part of the world from our perspective!

The journey takes us across Seaford Bay, passing Seaford Head before arriving at the Coastguard Cottages at Cuckmere Haven. We’ll then continue along the Sussex Heritage Coast towards Birling Gap and the Belle Toute Lighthouse. But the adventure doesn’t stop there…!

We’ll then head even further east to the base of the world-famous Beachy Head Lighthouse. Located about seven miles east of our home in Newhaven Port, it stands an impressive 33 meters tall. The iconic red and white stripes look magnificent up close.

There will be plenty of time for photos before we head back home, a little further out to sea. During the summer months, we often spot Harbour Porpoises and occasionally Common Seals near the Beachy Head Lighthouse.

Fun on the waves - We did the 9.30am trip along the coast past Seaford to see the Seven Sisters (or is it eight?), Birling Gap and Beachy Head lighthouse. John made the trip fun, entertaining and informative so that even the locals (all of us) on board had a great time! A bit of speed and a few bumps over the waves were fun too.

Wonderful boat trip for a family day out. - We booked this as a last minute family trip and it was so much better than we could have expected! John was excellent. He taught our children (aged 7 and 10yrs) the basics of water safety on the boat and told them wonderful stories about the Seven Sisters. They were engaged and enthralled thoughout the trip. They loved spotting the seal and watching out for caves, where pirates might have once left their treasure. We would highly recommend this trip.
