Amazing way to tour attractions in Salzburg! - Our guide, Michael, was amazing. He provided facts about the city, the surrounding areas, the attractions…all while getting us to the front of the line every stop. He is very easy going and fun to talk to with his wealth of knowledge about the entire world. Highly recommend Michael and this service.

Ice caves to Salt Mines - memorable Alpine experience - Tour guide Carlos Loureire from the tour operator salzburgprivate tours made our visit memorable. His knowledge was not limited to the history and geography of the places we visited but he also engaged in interesting chat on larger topics of geo political interest; provided tips on what we should not miss. His fluency in English made things easy for us. and told us what we should not miss. We did not have to queue up anywhere. The vehicle and guide arrived on time. We felt it was great value for the money we spent. Travellers should ask for salzburgprivate tours as tour operator and if lucky get Carlos as the preferred guide. They should try out local cuisine after the trip at the cafe just outside the ice caves, wear warm clothes / thermals / cap covering ears and hand gloves and have good trekking shoes for ice caves.

Amazing Adventure - Carlos was an excellent tour guide. He helped us pivot and find a place for lunch and since we had extra time, he took us to the Keltenblitz Alpine Slide in Hallein which was so much fun! He walked us through all the steps at all of the sights so we didn't get lost and taught us many fun facts about Austria. Carlos even dropped us off at another event that evening so we could make it in time and he recommended a great place to get dinner that night. If I could give 6 stars I would. Highly recommend this trip!

Great day of natural beauty and Austrian hospitality! - This is a special day of beautiful natural landscapes and fun! Visiting three spots in one day can be daunting, but Michael was such a great guide and made the day so easy and stress-free. He drove us around to the sites, telling us about the geology and history of the area as we went. The moderate hike up to the ice caves was rewarded with a breathtaking tour inside that was informational and fun (complete with old-fashioned oil lamps!). Michael suggested a quick lunch at the chalet on the way down, and it was “lecker” Bavarian food with a great view! The waterfall was nice, but I would suggest leaving more time for the more spectacular ice caves and salt mines. The salt mines exceeded our expectations with a wonderful multi-media tour including a change into miners’ overalls, a ride on a mining train, tons of historical information about the importance of salt in the region and details about salt mining through the ages, two fun miners’ slides, and even a short underground boat ride. This tour is perfect for families. Our kids are older and thought it was great fun. On the way back to our lodgings, Michael found a little time for a quick tour of Salzburg and gave us lots of ideas for sites to see and places to eat during our stay. Get out of the city for a day, get a little exercise, see and learn about the ice and salt of the Alps, and enjoy Michael’s energetic hospitality. Easily our best day of a wonderful trip to Bavaria!

Magnificent, but challenging - The ice formations in the caves are a magnificent natural wonder and the guide inside the cave (Mikel) was exceptionally pleasant and knowledgeable, but at 63 years old and semi-fit (each of us 20 lbs overweight) the hiking portions to reach the caves, and the 1,400 (+/-) steps up & down once inside the freezing caves was a bit much for my husband and I. We knew going down the mountain that many overweight folks on their way up were not going to made it. In fact, we ended up not doing the salt mines portion of the tour later in the day because our knees and hips were shot after getting down the mountain. Your fitness level, joint health, and weight are important factors for this tour.
