Perfect excursion for reasonably fit travelers. - We just finished a wonderful day on Mt Cotopaxi with our enthusiastic guide Irene and excellent driver Mauricio. Irene is full of energy and happy to share her considerable knowledge of the volcanos and local wildlife. She is also constantly learning new details to share with her travelers. She is perfectly bilingual and her love of her subject shines beautifully. She also took care to see that the needs of each member of the group are cared for. You will be happy you asked for Irene.

Amazing Cotopaxi Tour - Great tour - pick up and communication were easy, tour guide and driver were very friendly and enthusiastic. We toured with 4 adults and 5 kids ages 10-16, and everyone had a great time. Bring lots of layers, gloves, beanies and scarves for the hike up to Cotopaxi - its cold up there! I wish we had known that at the very top, in the hut they will stamp your passports with the "Cotopaxi" stamp - we would have brought ours. Some of us took the zig zag path which was longer but less steep, some of us took the straight line path which was very tough for the younger kids due to the incline and soft sand.

Great personal challenge to climb the face of a volcano and admire the beauty of Ecuador - The view wasn't amazing on the day - but that's the nature of the beast. I had a blast climbing/walking to the Cotopaxi base camp refuge. Our tour guide Alejandro was great and very positive but also at the same time realistic about expectations. All of the people on our bus were able to ascend to the refuge from the carpark, but it was a struggle for some. Definitely needed gloves, a coat, extra layers and sun glasses to keep the rain/wind out of your face.

Very nice volcano. - The place is very good, if the volcano can be seen it has a very good view, for us it was somewhat cloudy so you could see some parts for small moments. To get to the refuge it is about 1 hour uphill, in our case we had some rain on the way. The lagoon is small and you can see some birds, I didn't think it was anything special. The experience is worth it, I think they should provide better information about what the experience is like, since part of the group did not climb (perhaps they did not expect a climb with that inclination) and be more emphatic about bringing or providing a raincoat. Maybe see us all at one point and leave, instead of picking up at different hotels. Even with everything and the rain and the fact that we got wet, it was not serious and the experience was good. The guide and the driver were very good!!
