Here, in the lower montane forest ecosystem, you’ll experience a temperate, rainy climate with an average temperature of 22°C. This stop offers a fantastic opportunity to observe around 365 species of birds, including hummingbirds, tanagers, toucans, cotingas, guans, and many others. It’s a perfect spot for birdwatching enthusiasts and nature lovers, as the lush forest canopy is alive with vibrant colors and the sounds of the jungle’s avian inhabitants.
Playa de los Monos - Upon reaching Tena, the capital city of Napo, we’ll proceed to Puerto Misahualli before arriving at our Ecolodge. In the afternoon, our native guide will provide rubber boots for an immersive walk along Amazonian trails, where you’ll have the chance to spot birds, monkeys, and possibly reptiles and mammals. We’ll conclude the day with an exciting tubing experience on the river.
Suchipakari Amazon Lodge & Jungle Spa - Enjoy a delightful dinner featuring traditional Amazonian dishes at the lodge. After dinner, join a night walk to discover the hidden side of the Amazon rainforest. Ahuano - Visit to Indigenous Community and Cultural Demonstration
Visit a local indigenous community to learn about their way of life, traditions, and how they interact with the Amazon environment. You’ll have the chance to participate in a cultural ceremony and learn about the use of medicinal plants and traditional hunting tools.
We’ll share a Kichwa-style box lunch with the community.
Amazoonico Animal Rescue Centre - Visit to the Amazoonico Animal Rescue Center
As part of this journey, you’ll have the option to visit Amazoonico, an animal rescue center dedicated to the rehabilitation and reintegration of wildlife into their natural habitat. During the visit, you’ll learn about their rehabilitation efforts and have the chance to observe a variety of species, including monkeys, parrots, ocelots, and more, while gaining insight into the conservation challenges of the Amazon.
This stop adds a unique opportunity to contribute to the protection of Amazonian wildlife while learning about the center’s important work.
Laguna del Caiman Negro - Afterward, we’ll continue to the Caiman Lagoon, where we can observe caimans, hoatzins, and other unique species of this amazing ecosystem.
After a full day of activities, we’ll return to the ecolodge.
