Charming, although it can be challenging for height, the reward is the panomara that justifies all the effort - El Quilotoa offers spectacular views that captivate any visitor.
The combination of the mountainous landscape with the lagoon is amazing

A wonderful experience - If you want to see the real Ecuador this is for you. We went first to the farm of Julian, a 75-year-old guinea pig farmer. He showed us the home he has lived in for many years as well as several kinds of potatoes that he grows, most of which I'd never seen before. Next stop was an art gallery/store in Tigua featuring the work of local artist Julio Toaquiza, whose painings interweave traditional, political and spiritual themes. The last stop was Quilotoa, an incredible turquiose blue lake in an old volcano. We could have climbed down the side (1000 feet), sailed around in a kayak and then somehow ( maybe on horseback) climbed back up again. Our guide, Felipe, gave us another choice, which was to hike partway around the rim to a lookout point. We chose that. Afterward we had a great lunch in a restaurant there at Quilotoa. I highly recommend this tour.

Amazing day in Quilotoa - This was an incredible day. Quilatoa was stunning, but also the stop in the indigenous community was wonderful. I learned so much about Ecuador, this tour really made me feel connected with the country on a new level. Irene and Andres took such great care of us! Irene is an amazing guide who navigated everything flawlessly in English and Spanish. She taught us so much and really kept our energy up across the long day! I can’t recommend this tour and Irene and Andres enough. You will not regret it!

Informative and scenic experience! - Had a great experience on this tour that combined cultural, scenic and hiking stops. PameR did a fantastic job guiding the group, providing insightful information along the way in both Spanish and fluent English. I learned quite a bit about the area and Ecuador in general. Pam was also very kind to take individual and group pictures and share them afterwards. The hike towards the lake provides for unforgettable views!

I was picked up way in... - I was picked up way in advance of the pick up time. It was a really long drive but you get great views anyway. I was with a group of Spanish speakers so I commend Felipe, our guide for translating everything for me - although I feel like not everything was translated. It is a trek downhill so I suggest doing it as fast as you can so you get more time at the crater - you can do a boat ride or kayak. I bet it is more challenging returning so I decided to rent a horse (to save my energy for other tours) on the way up. Again, thanks to Felipe for organising this. I enjoyed the food in the restaurant too - amazing Ecuadorian dishes.
