Scotland Adventure of a lifetime - “An Unforgettable Scottish Adventure!” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a remarkable tour! Over five days, our group of 13 explorers crisscrossed the rugged beauty of Scotland in a cozy minibus It was a journey that left footprints on our hearts. Our fellow travelers came from all over the globe. Our guide was John, a living, breathing love letter to his homeland. His passion for Scotland was contagious, and he wove tales that transported us through time—from Highland clans to mythical creatures. His enthusiasm was infectious, and we hung on every word as he revealed hidden gems and stories. His music playlist was a symphony of Scottish musicians and music and some of his favorites. John knew the best spots to stop and inluded John "Bonus Stops". His love for the land, snd the people we'll carry with us forever. If you are fortunate to visit Scotland, ask for John at Hairy Coo tours. You won't be disappointed. me.

Tour of a lifetime!! - The 5-day tour July 31-Aug 4 surpassed all expectations! Do not hesitate to book this Hairy Coo experience. My daughter and I had the trip of a lifetime with our guide John (aka the real king of the north)!! We appreciated his humor and vast knowledge about the Highlands and all things Scottish (you’ll learn what a very long list this is!!) His friendly, engaging manner made us feel very comfortable and he connected with each person on the tour. Our vehicle was brand new with great visibility from every comfy seat and we were able to charge our phones onboard. Excellent tunes from Scottish musicians (you’ll be surprised!) were sprinkled in at appropriate times, which made the scenic miles zip by in between stops and fascinating legends and relevant history well told by John. Plenty of stops along the way to use the shunky and grab coffee or refreshments. Stops for lunch and exploration of local shops and scenery in interesting towns each day. The itinerary cannot be surpassed—it’s amazing to have checked off so many sites in 5 days. We also had a few “Johnny bonus stops” that were wonderful surprises. Favorite spots of mine included Kilt Rock and the astonishing landscape on the Isle of Skye, medieval warrior grave slabs at Kilmartin Kirk, views of “the 3 sisters” at Ballachulish, Glencoe, ancient burial grounds at Clava Cairns, walking the battlefield at Culloden Moor, views of the Wallace Monument from Stirling Castle, Loch Shiel and the Glenfinnan viaduct, and exploring the ruins of Ardvreck Castle on Loch Assynt. But there was much, much more…just do it!!! I had planned it as a solo adventure, which would have worked well (there were 3 solo travelers in our group, a multi-generational family, a young couple, and a mom with 2 kids), then my 20something daughter became free and we had a truly special mother-daughter adventure. I took the advice of the tour co. and made dinner reservations in advance after I booked our lodging. This worked out perfectly and we had excellent cuisine (McBain’s Restaurant by the River in Inverness was truly special.) I would honestly give Hairy Coo tours and our guide John 10 stars. Thank you for this extraordinary adventure of a lifetime!!

A must for visiting Scotland -Hairy Coo tour with John - This was my second trip with Hairy Coo tours and with John. He is exceptional and I would request him for a 3rd time if I return to Scotland (which I loved and I might). John is passionate about his country, his culture and shares so many interesting information on its history, beauty, and forelore. He is amazing.

Incredibly Magical Experience - This tour was AMAZING!! We stopped at places I would have never thought of, and each day was broken up perfectly to give us some rest after each outing. There were waterfalls, castles, history lessons, fairytales, and of course, hairy coos and sheeps. John was a phenomenal guide, joking with the whole group and keeping us engaged and entertained throughout. He recommended food and little shops in each town and most importantly, he pointed out the toilets haha. I can't recommend this trip enough!

5 Days of Awesomeness!! - Amazing experience! John was the best tour guide. He had us laughing right from day 1. We learned so much, saw so much and are so grateful to have been able to see the Highlands through John’s eyes. This was our first tour experience and for us the 16 person size was the perfect size.

You must do this tour! - This was my second tour with the Hairy Coo and it was fantastic! Our guide was John aka “The King of the North” and he really knows his stuff. A font of knowledge on all things Scotland – from the best places to visit, to which road to use, right down to recommendations for meals. As for his playlist – banging! There are plenty of stops throughout the day, in fact you are probably off the bus more than you are on it! The scenery you see on this tour is just stunning, the many photographs you will take do not do it justice. What makes this company and this tour different to the others is the fact John takes the time to get know each passenger on the tour, everyone is involved. You start the tour as strangers and leave as friends. I have been on many day tours with different tour providers in Edinburgh and I can honestly say that The Hairy Coo are the best. Don’t think about booking a tour, just do it!

5 day tour to Oban, Portree and St Andrews - My husband and I did the small group 5 day tour with Stephen! Stephen was energetic and full of life. He brought his personality and wit each day and made everything so interesting. We saw so much we would have missed if we had tried to drive ourselves or do a large tour with more people. We loved Stephen's sense of humor and his great taste in music!! We highly recommend Hairy Coos and Stephen!!

Mixed review. Loved the guide but not the back office - This review is in 2 parts. A) Review of actual tour conducted by Stephen which was 10/10 and B) Review of the Hairy Coo back/admin office which is a 3/10. a) Review of actual tour Stephen our guide was absolutely amazing. He is extremely knowledgeable about Scotland and gave us tons of information about the places we saw, historical time lines and places to eat at each town we visited. During the entire tour he played music from musicians with Scottish ancestry and his selection of music and the timing on when he played it was impeccable. He has a great sense of humor and not only did we learn a lot about Scotland, we also laughed a lot at his very funny jokes. We covered a lot of places in Scotland and almost all the places were incredibly scenic and very worth visiting. b) Review of back office/admin We were extremely disappointed with the admin side. At the time of booking, our drop off points were mentioned on their website and also specified in the conformation email. Based on that email, we reserved hotels in 4 places Oban, Portree and Inverness 10-12 months before the tour. During that 10-12 months, the city of Inverness asked them not to use the original drop off point but instead switch to another drop off point on the other side of the river, Hairy Coo company is our opinion should have informed us about this change so we could have revisited our Inverness hotel booking. We would have changed it closer to the new drop off location. When we emailed them indicating that they should have informed us via email about this change after we booked the reservation, they did not reply initially. When I pressed them for a reply, they replied that they had changed it on their website as if to suggest that it was my responsibility to keep checking their website and not trust their original conformation email which was the basis of my hotel bookings. When I replied back to their reply saying that they were being insensitive and not communicating effectively about itinerary changes, I again never heard from them (to this date). The 2nd issue we had with the back office of the trip was in acquiring hotel reservations. Portree in particular is very challenging as it is a very small place and there is very limited accommodation near their drop off points. They have listed a few recommended hotels on their website but we were unable to get reservations at any of them even though we were trying 10-12 months ahead of the trip dates. When we reached out to Hairy Coo asking for other hotel suggestions, they basically told my wife bluntly that they cannot help and it was up to us to find accommodation. Bottom line, again they were insensitive, lacked empathy and did not show any willingness to help us with trip related issues. While I loved the tour with Stephen, I found the Hairy Coo back office very disappointing.
