Fun and delicious afternoon in Stockbridge. - Spent a few hours eating & exploring the Stockbridge neighborhood. This was my second tour with Nell, and she was as delightful as I remembered.

Traditional Scottish Cooking with Nell - a MUST DO in Edinburgh - My daughter surprised me with this completely fun and joyful learning (and eating) experience. From the moment we walked into Nell's place there was no doubt this was going to be special. We sipped a Dutch Courage beverage (Nell can tell you all about it) as we enjoyed Scottish cheddar oatcakes (yum). We prepared foods including a heartly and delicious Cullen Skink soup (for those in the US, skink is not what you think) and we enjoyed a serving of haggis, neeps and tatties, beautifully displayed with an added whiskey sauce that just went brilliantly with the dish. And, the favorite of mine... we made Scottish Shortbread. My fears subsided at the first bite of the delightful treat Nell helped us make. Since returning to the states, I have made two batches of this fabulous, traditional "cookie" because Nell provides the recipes for everything you make! The experience alone is tremendous, and Nell is a big part of the reason why. Try it. You will be glad! ENJOY!

wonderful sunday afternoon food tour in Edinburgh - We greatly enjoyed our sunday farmers market and stockbridge food tour with Nell. We started with some amazing canapes in a cool boutique hotel in New Town and then walked through New Town including stops in the Farmers Market where we sampled one of a kind Scottish cheeses, smoked butter and venison! We tried the veggie and regular haggis and ended with some delicious gelato! Learning more about the history of the town and the various architectural influences was something I don't think we would have experienced otherwise. Nell was a wonderful, interesting and informative guide! I highly recommend this tour.

A delightful peek into Scottish cooking - This was one of our favorite activities on our trip to Scotland! Nell was the most lovely hostess and it was so fun to be in her Georgian historic home. We adored everything we made with her, and went on to hunt out Cullen Skink our whole trip as she introduced us to this yummy Scottish treat. Highly recommend this

Lovely afternoon cooking and eating with Nell. - I took Nell's cooking class, held in her beautiful home. Nell is an energetic, talented, creative, charismatic individual and the four of us who were cooking with her had a blast. She welcomed us with a gin and tonic. We "made" - with Nell's help - Shortbread cookies and Cullen Skink (a smoked haddock soup). Then we had a delicious lunch that included what we made, plus some cheese/oatmeal snacks and the traditional haggis/potato and squash. It was a relaxed, interactive afternoon and I feel confident I can produce the soup and shortbread quickly and easily at home.

Cooking in Nell's kitchen - Our cooking class with Nell was AMAZING! She has so much information to share about the history of the food we prepared and ate. The class was informative and delicious. We loved cooking like a local and learning about the neighborhood. Nell was very helpful with the directions to her home. The menu was just as she described and I can't wait to prepare it again at home.

Add on the Sausage Roll - Loved the New Town market and food tour. Had some really excellent bites and guide was very engaging. Loved the haggis, scones, smoked fish, smoked butter, ice cream, cheese & whiskey and we even had a bonus sausage roll from an amazing artisanal shop just by asking our guide. Saw some homes, learned some history of the area and generally had a lovely few hours.

Go on a safari in Edinburgh! - Without this suggestion from Across the Pond Vacations, we would have missed the unique pleasure of spending an evening of cooking and dining with the extraordinary Nell Nelson. Nell graciously welcomed us into her flat in Edinburgh which flowed into an evening of lively conversation, a splash of Lind & Lime gin on the rocks (my wife and I dislike gin normally but this local gin changed our minds!), lessons on how to make Cullen Skink (smoked haddock) that tasted astronomically better than the name sounds to American ears) and yummy Scottish shortbread cookies. A pure fun and educational evening all in one "sitting"! (And, by request, no haggis was served!)
