Great tour! - Awesome tour, great storytelling. My daughter (11 y. o.) loved it too. Not for the faint of heart. Martin was our guide, he did an amazing job!

Spooky tour with a side of whisky. - My wife and I wanted to see the vaults in Edinburgh and decided to go on this tour. Great mix of ghost stories, Edinburgh/Scottish history, and a bit of fun thrown in as well. Jerod was our guide and was absolutely fantastic. Wrapping up the tour of the vaults we settled in for a drink and listened to a few more spooky tales. A unique experience that was interesting and entertaining! Would like to go on another tour again when I visit again.

Ghosts Not Included… Maybe - Michael & Jack delivered a tour that made me laugh, cringe, and keep my hands in my pockets. I recommend this tour if you enjoy excellent storytelling with a dose of Edinburgh history. The only thing that could have improved the tour was a visit from one of the ghosts themselves (minus Mr. Boots). I give this tour 5/5 stars. Thank you!!!

Wonderful - Interesting stories and really well told. Not only scary but also funny. We had a very nice guide who really loved what she was doing and made us feel welcomed and put into the time she was talking about.

Great story telling and wonderful trip through history. - Our guide Marie was an exceptional story teller. She brought some of the most ghoulish stories the city had to offer to life. The vaults were truly fascinating and genuinely creepy. My wife and I geek out with the paranormal and we just had an absolute blast. And what's better than ending such fun with a drink?

The man in the doorway - The photo that I posted is from 2016 from a tour we did with you. The man walking through the doorway was part of our small whisky club. It is odd that he is somewhat translucent in the photo. My friend passed away less than a year later. The photo was taken with a Cannon Rebel 35mm camera.

spooky and fun - We had a great time with Sarah as our guide. She was entertaining and took great care of everyone at the same time. We learned a lot of fun and spooky facts and laughed a lot along the way. Definitely recommend giving this tour a try.

A must-do for fans of all things spooky and/or historical! - I cannot say enough positive things about this experience. If you’re a fan of all things spooky, or really even just historical, this tour is for you.
Our guide (Jared) was hilarious, knowledgeable, and really helped make the tour memorable. We learned so much about the city and got to see its gnarly underbelly, which was such a unique experience.
Mercat is also great, in our opinion, because of just how much they considered to help make the experience enjoyable (like providing headsets, the underground drinks portion with local brews, and balancing history seamlessly with ghost stories). There are no gimmicks here - I would not hesitate to do this again on my next visit!

Ghost History of Royal Mile and South Bridge Vaults - Our guide from Mercat Tours was Marie and she made the tour very entertaining and informative. Learning about some of the dark past of the Royal Mile and visiting the vaults of the South Bridge made it unique. Overall I'd recommend this to others which enjoy ghost stories and history.

Fantastic storytelling and rich with real history. - Michael was our tour guide for the Ghosts and Ghouls tour and he was fantastic. His storytelling and commitment to the tour were a real mark of a professional performer. We had a great time - got really creeped out several times - and learned quite a bit of real history in the process. Their access to the Blair Vaults is rare and definitely worth it to see. Highly recommend!
