A very entertaining tour for those curious about Edinburgh's darkest tales - The visit was brilliant. We learned a lot of historical and paranormal trivia about the old town while visiting iconic and spooky locations, like the Greyfriars Cemetery and underground vaults, at night. Dr. Knox was an amazing guide; we appreciated his tongue-in-cheek and witty commentary about Edinburgh's darkest corners. Plus, we had a good group so people were interacting a lot with the guide, making the experience unique. Not very scary, but extremely entertaining and fun.

Extreme Paranormal experience - We are both avid ghost hunters so this tour really appealed to us. Our guide Maggie Dickinson had a perfect combo of humour, adult banter and jump scares. The locations were excellent too (I had already done South Bridge vaults but these were different and involved different stories). She was very caring too: I got the spirit of George McKensie's wife come through to me and heard her say "leave my husband alone. Leave us in peace". I could feel the emotion in her voice and it made me upset. Maggie stopped the story and checked if I was OK. She also checked several times during the remainder of the tour and offered a seat, fresh air, water etc which I think is lovely. The only thing my partner and I were not happy with was allowing people to shine their torch into the mausoleum and then at one point hitting the door with her cane. We found that very disrespectful. Otherwise, a fantastic tour experience x

Spooky night. - Ms Maggie Dickson was our Guide. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the spooky cemetery and under ground tunnels. Just needs to project her voice more. Very good though.

Amazingly interesting, but not scary - The tour was incredibly interesting. Our guide James had a unique and fun way to tell the stories and to entertain our group. The only thing I don’t understand is why it is marked as 18+. My mother hates horror and is easily scared, and even she said it wasn’t scary at all. But that made her enjoy it even more. Maybe lower the age a bit, as then you would definitely get even more visitors. I am really tempted to do it again if I visit Edinburgh another time.

Awful. - I was truly looking forward to this tour especially on Halloween. We’ve had many lovely tours in this beautiful country however this one left us feeling disappointed. First; Our tour guide. Lafayette. Left a disappointed taste in our mouth right at the start of the tour. He’d ask questions to us in character and we are aware there will be play acting and sarcasm all in good fun. However being rude, excessively sarcastic and coming across as demeaning and condescending to guests when they answered him was distasteful and frankly unprofessional. When coming across to humiliate someone in a group setting and you’re met with people collectively shaking their heads… you’re not on a good track. Right away that set the tone. We saw many other tour guides in character and overheard far better and numerous tales and pleasantly positive engaging to its members. A couple people even left the group shortly after. Second. False advertising. Extreme paranormal underground? We saw one tiny children’s vault. That’s it. No tunnels no further walking. Instead we spent most of the time standing at loud busy intersections or corners away from crowds trying to hear him. Last: the cemetery. Pitch black. Zero walking lanterns. One brief silly speech on cherishing life. No history on the graves or cemetery besides its population. Pitch black meant we couldn’t even see where we were walking let alone couldn’t see a single grave or inscription or sight. Safety risks were high. Other groups had walking lanterns and would help illuminate the area better. This was our last night in Edinburgh and I will never use this company again. Save your money. This price for this tour was outrageous. We’re yet to receive a refund.
