This exciting two-day tour departs from the Edinburgh area, taking travelers to the most picturesque locations in the Highlands. The journey begins through The Trossachs, with various stops en route to Glencoe, where the breathtaking landscape and a recreated 17th-century turfhouse await.
The tour continues through Fort William to Spean Bridge, offering views of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, on clear days. As the journey proceeds down The Great Glen, a stop at Fort Augustus provides a chance to see vessels navigating The Caledonian Canal.
Next, the tour visits Invermoriston Falls and its charming summer house. The day concludes at Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness, offering a magnificent view of the loch before guests are dropped off at their accommodation in Inverness for an overnight stay.
Day two begins with a brief tour around Inverness, including visits to the Cathedral, Castle, and The Old High Churchyard, where Jacobite prisoners were executed after the Battle of Culloden. Musket ball marks are still visible on the church wall.
The tour then visits Culloden Battlefield, where a guide shares the site’s history, including clan gravestones and a memorial cairn. Clava Cairns, a 4,000-year-old burial ground that inspired Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, is also on the itinerary.
Heading south from Clava, the tour stops in the charming town of Pitlochry, often called the Centre of Scotland, for lunch and a visit to the Heathergems factory and gift shop.
The final stop is Stirling Castle, rich in history and near the sites of the Battle of Stirling Bridge and the Battle of Bannockburn. The Wallace Monument is also visible from the castle.
After visiting Stirling Castle, guests are driven to Edinburgh or Glasgow and dropped off at their preferred location.
