- Melrose Abbey - Enjoy lunch in the charming town of Melrose. The stunning ruined Abbey is the final resting place of King Robert the Bruce’s heart.
- Carter Bar - Cross the ancient Scotland/England border at Carter Bar, a wonderful viewpoint in the Cheviot Hills.
- Housesteads Roman Fort - Hadrian’s Wall - Hadrian’s Wall is the best-known frontier of the Roman Empire and a magnificent reminder of one of the world’s greatest civilisations. Built almost 2000 years ago to contain the fierce Picts in Caledonia it stretches for 73 miles and was designated a World Heritage Site in 1987. You stop at Housesteads Fort in Northumberland National Park, the best preserved Roman fort along Hadrian’s Wall. Here you’ll enjoy a nature walk along one of the most dramatic and photographed stretches of the wall.
- Jedburgh Abbey - On route back to Edinburgh, you will stop in the Border market town of Jedburgh to stretch your legs and for photos of the famous Abbey.

Perfect Small Group Tour for Hadrian's Wall - My kids still talk about how good this tour was. Angela was an amazing guide and driver. We gained a full appreciation how beautiful the borderlands are. It is a long day but plenty of breaks, great information and a delightful guide.

Calem, did an outstanding... - Calem, did an outstanding full day tour to Rosslyn Chapel, and Hadrian's wall, and Roman Fort. He is full of stories, and at the fort site, dropped us off right by the visitors center, saving us a long, long walk up the hill from the car park. Calm, is with the Wee Red Bus tour, and did an awesome job!

We had a great time on... - We had a great time on this trip driving around the borderlands. The abbey is under repair right now, so our stop there was brief - but still a worthwhile opportunity to see the exterior. The commentary and stories as we drove around were delightful, and the chapel was an incredible sight.

Sharing with history - very interesting and full Of stories, I don't remember his name, but he went with a trainee who also answered questions and helped US. Every place visited full Of histories and lovely views

The tour guide was super... - The tour guide was super friendly and very knowledgeable. He gave us lots of ideas for food in the area that we were in and made sure that we had enough time at each location we were in.

Great well paced tour and a wonderful guide! - This was a PHENOMENAL tour to go on- fairly small scale which is nice but still had ample time to see what we wanted to. Angela was our guide and not only was she very warm and friendly, but she played lots of great music and had lots of wonderful stories to tell about the history of the areas we visited. She also provided an alternative location to see the wall which we took, and it was *breathtaking*. She went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great time, and I greatly appreciated it. Don't hesitate to book with Heart of Scotland, you won't be disappointed!

A wonderful not-to-be-missed experience! - This was a wonderful tour (on October 8, 2024), and our tour guide - Angela - made it extra special! We were originally scheduled for another date, but that tour was canceled at the last minute due to a "staffing issue" - we were provided with three alternate dates, and luckily one worked out perfect for our schedule. The tour was the right size (16 people), and Angela was very informative with her historical information, context, and stories; she also had a very beautiful and clear British accent that was easily to understand and pleasant on the ears (she noted her father is Scottish and her mother English). She was a very good/safe driver, and it was a pleasure to spend the day with her as our guide! Highly recommended! Rosslyn Chapel was truly beautiful, and Hadrian’s Wall was a peaceful and moving experience to visit.

Trip to Roman and Medieval ruins in Northumbria - Excellent day trip from Edinburgh. Perfect visit to Rosslyn Chapel. Lovely spot for lunch. I would only grouse that the trip to Hadrian’s Wall was too short for those of us who struggled to get up and down the path to the ruins in the time allotted. I dropped the visit to Wall museum and the walk on the wall since time did not permit. That aside, the trip was fascinating and our guide/driver, Angela, was a wonderful steward for this special trip.
