Excellent, informative, entertaining! Wow! - We went on the tour of the haunted underground vaults with Mercat tours. Linda, our guide, was absolutely fabulous, using the tour participants to demonstrate what she was saying and engaging the kids in the storytelling. The guide was very knowledgeable and well informed, and she was brilliantly entertaining - I thought she might have been a retired actress! The tour was spooky, but just scary enough for our 7y old to be engaged and want to hold his mama's hand in the vaults. The tour started outside by the market cross where the guide shared about the life in Edinburgh along the Royal Mile way back when, and we then descended into the vaults to explore the subterranean spaces. We had a lot of fun, we learned a lot, and it was all very enjoyably spooky :)

A quiet place to discover! - Interesting tour and well lead Some scary moments , enjoyed. A place to discover if you visit Edinburgh, not too commercial or touristy.

Terrifying Ghost Tour - The tour gave us a horrifying glimpse into medieval life and death in Edinburgh, both above ground and in the vaults. Our tour guide, Neave, was enthusiastic and knowledgable. She delivered each of her horrifying ghost tales with bone wrenching and guttingling atmosphere. The office staff were polite, friendly and accomodating. Top experience and a must if you're in Edinburgh!

Great tour, would recommend - Dramatic retelling of ghostly and torture tales. The headphones were brilliant to block out the noise on the Royal Mile. The vaults were the best bit, wished we had longer down there. Would visit again. Recommended.

Brilliant activity if you are in the city - What a brilliant experience! Linda, our guide, was charismatic, warm and knowledgeable about the local history. She involved each member of the group in the experience, but not in a way that made us feel uncomfortable or under pressure. Would love to come back and do the whisky tour!

Awesome! - We had an awesome time! Shannon was a great storyteller and guide. The underground vaults are incredible and it was so cool to learn the spooky history behind it all.

Vault tour - We had such a wonderful time on the vault tour! Michael’s storytelling was captivating and wildly entertaining. Would highly recommend this experience.

Educational experience - Our tour guide Michael could’ve been in theater. He was so entertaining. He provided an interesting mix of ghost stories and historical facts.

Happy to have done it, but not really worth it. - This was a fun tour, and we are glad we did it, but beyond seeing the vaults it was very limited in historical context and value. As far as a ghost tour, we felt it was not worth it and gimmicky.
