Visiting the Egyptian museum, pyramids of Giza, taking the sleeper train to Luxor
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - After breakfast and checkout, your Egyptologist Guide will pick you up in an air-conditioned van. Start your day by visiting the Egyptian Museum, where you will see 165,000 Egyptian artifacts. You can also visit the Mummies Hall (additional cost).
Pyramids of Giza - Next, we will visit the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. The Sphinx is an iconic symbol of Egypt. Then, you will visit a perfume factory and a traditional papyrus institute.
Luxor Temple - Next, you will be taken to Giza Train Station to board your sleeper train to Luxor, arriving at Luxor Station around 08:20 am.
Luxor day tour and overnight in Luxor
Valley of the Kings - Upon arriving at Luxor train station, you will meet your guide and be picked up in an air-conditioned vehicle to start your Luxor tour. First, we will visit the west bank, known as the city of the dead and the funerary complex of the Ancient Egyptians. We will visit the Valley of the Kings, the ancient cemetery of pharaohs of the New Kingdom, hidden in the mountains between the two limestone hills of Gurna. The Valley of the Kings holds 63 registered tombs, with 3 more recently discovered.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - We will then visit the Hatshepsut Temple, a unique mortuary temple built in a terrace formation into the cliff face. Hatshepsut was a famous female pharaoh who wore a false beard and all the trappings of male pharaohs to claim the throne. We will then visit the Memnon Colossi, the only remaining statues fronting the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III, depicting the pharaoh sitting on his throne. Next, we will cross the Nile to the East Bank for lunch at a local restaurant (drinks not included).
Temple of Karnak - Our last stop on this tour is the Karnak Temples, the largest ancient temple complex in Egypt. The Karnak Temple complex is one of Egypt’s major sites, where the sacred energies of Ancient Egypt can still be felt. Then, you will be taken to your Luxor hotel for an overnight stay.
Fly back to Cairo and visiting Old Islamic and Coptic Cairo
Coptic Cairo - Early in the morning, you will check out and be transferred to Luxor Airport for your flight to Cairo. Upon arrival at Cairo Airport, your tour guide will pick you up and start your tour by visiting three old churches in Coptic Cairo.
Khan Al-Khalili - Visiting the Saladin Citadel and Khan El Khalili Bazaar will be an amazing experience. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, and then you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
Free Day With optional tour to Alexandria
Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - Enjoy a free day with an optional tour to Alexandria. If you wish to book it, you can do so with the tour guide. At 07:00 am, you will be picked up to visit Alexandria, where you will see the mixed art of Greek, Roman, and ancient Egyptian cultures. The Catacombs consist of three floors, and you will visit the main tomb, which still retains carvings, statues, and symbols of Roman, Greek, and Egyptian art.
Pompey’s Pillar - You will visit the 3rd-century Pompey’s Pillar, a 25-meter red Aswan granite column that is the last remaining relic of the Seraphim Temple. Constructed in honor of Emperor Diocletian, it was once a magnificent structure rivaling the Soma and the Caesarean.
Qaitbay Citadel - After the 11th-century earthquake, the Lighthouse of Alexandria was destroyed, and Sultan Qaitbay built the Alexandrian Fortress to protect northern Egypt. During your tour of the Qaitbay Citadel, your guide will tell you more about the military monuments and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. You will have lunch at a local restaurant before driving back to Cairo to spend your last night in Egypt.
