Exploring the Egyptian Museum, Giza Pyramids, and Sleeper Train to Luxor
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - After breakfast and checkout, your Egyptologist Guide will pick you up in an air-conditioned van. Begin your day by visiting the Egyptian Museum, where you can marvel at 165,000 Egyptian artifacts. The Mummies Hall is also available for an additional fee.
Pyramids of Giza - The next stop is the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, an iconic symbol of Egypt. Following this, visit a perfume factory and a traditional papyrus institute.
Luxor Temple - You will then be taken to Giza Train Station to board your sleeper train to Luxor, arriving at Luxor Station around 8:20 am.
Luxor Day Tour and Overnight Stay
Valley of the Kings - Upon arrival at Luxor train station, your guide will meet you and take you on a tour in an air-conditioned vehicle. Begin by visiting the west bank, known as the city of the dead, which is the funerary complex of the Ancient Egyptians. Explore the Valley of the Kings, the ancient cemetery of pharaohs from the New Kingdom, hidden in the mountains between two limestone hills of Gurna. The Valley of the Kings contains 63 registered tombs, with 3 more recently discovered.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Next, visit the Hatshepsut Temple, a unique mortuary temple built in a terrace formation into the cliff face. Hatshepsut was a renowned female pharaoh who adopted the appearance of a male pharaoh to claim the throne. Visit the Memnon Colossi, the only remaining statues fronting the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III, depicting the pharaoh seated on his throne. Cross the Nile to the East Bank for lunch at a local restaurant (drinks not included).
Temple of Karnak - The final stop is the Karnak Temples, the largest ancient temple complex in Egypt. The Karnak Temple complex is a major site where the sacred energies of Ancient Egypt can still be felt. You will then be taken to a Luxor hotel for an overnight stay.
Return to Cairo and Explore Old Islamic and Coptic Cairo
Coptic Cairo - Early in the morning, check out and transfer to Luxor Airport for your flight to Cairo. Upon arrival at Cairo Airport, your tour guide will take you to visit three historic churches in Old Coptic Cairo.
Khan Al-Khalili - Experience the Saladin Citadel and Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before being transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
Free Day with Optional Alexandria Tour
Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - Enjoy a free day with an optional tour to Alexandria. If interested, book with your tour guide to visit the following sights. At 7:00 am, you will be picked up to explore Alexandria, where you will see the blend of Greek, Roman, and ancient Egyptian art at the Catacombs, consisting of three floors. Visit the main tomb, which still retains the carved statues and symbols of Roman, Greek, and Egyptian art.
Pompey’s Pillar - Visit the 3rd Century Pompey’s Pillar, a 25-meter red Aswan granite column, the last remaining relic of the Seraphim Temple. Built in honor of Emperor Diocletian, it once rivaled the Soma and the Cesarean.
Qaitbay Citadel - After the 11th-century earthquake, the Lighthouse of Alexandria was destroyed, and Sultan Qaitbay constructed the Alexandrian Fortress to protect northern Egypt. During your tour of Qaitbay Citadel, your guide will share insights about the military monuments and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Cairo for your final night in Egypt.
