Additional Information

We’ve often suggested various tours in Alexandria for you to embark on. However, it occurred to us that some of you might not have El Alamin on your travel list.

We encourage you to take a day trip to El Alamein, positioned roughly 110 km from Alexandria, where you can explore various remnants of WWII including grave sites.

In November 1942, this was the location which saw the Allied forces led by General Montgomery of Britain force the Nazi Africa corps to a standstill. The Nazis regarded El Alamin as crucial for their Africa domination.

A triumphant outcome for the Allies at the Battle of El Alamein signaled the start of a downward spiral for the Axis powers in North Africa, dismantling the aura of the infamous German “Desert Fox”, Marshal Rommel .

Hence, the Battle of El Alamein is regarded as one of the most pivotal and intense conflicts during WWII.
