Day 1: Cairo | Alamein | Siwa
El Alamein - At 6:00 am, guests will be picked up from their hotel in Cairo by an expert tour guide and transported to the western side of Egypt in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Leaving Cairo behind, the journey leads to Alamein, where visitors will explore the WWII Museum and the War Memorial. The museum showcases uniforms, weapons, flags, and other war memorabilia, including photographs and battle site displays.
The tour continues with a visit to the El Alamein War Cemetery, where 7,367 soldiers from Britain, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Greece, France, India, and Malaysia are laid to rest in individual graves, while 11,945 soldiers, whose bodies were never recovered, are commemorated. Additionally, the German War Memorial and the Italian Memorial will be visited. A light lunch will be provided en route.
Upon arrival in Siwa, guests will witness the sunset at Fatnas Lake, a small island in Birket Siwa. This is a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the sunset, offering a spectacular view of the lake with Gebel Bayda and Hamra as a backdrop to the west. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel in Siwa.
Day 2: Siwa
Siwa - After breakfast at the hotel, guests will be picked up at 7:00 am to begin their day with a visit to Alexander the Great Temple, also known as the Temple of the Oracle. It is believed that Alexander the Great sought confirmation from the Siwan oracle that he was the son of Zeus, the Greek god of gods.
Next, the tour will visit the salty lake, where the salty water allows for effortless floating. Guests are encouraged to choose the crystal lake, the purest one, identifiable by its clear bottom. It is advisable to keep a bottle of water handy to rinse off after swimming, as the lakes possess significant healing properties, much stronger than regular seawater, ensuring a delightful swim.
The tour proceeds to Cleopatra’s Bath, known as the Spring of the Sun. Then, guests have the option to head to the Great Sand Sea by Jeep 4x4 for sandboarding and a desert adventure. The tour will also visit the hot and cold spring Bir Waheed, followed by enjoying traditional Bedouin tea at sunset. The campsite will be prepared for the night. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel in Siwa.
