- San Martín 872 - This is a thrilling rafting adventure on the Río de las Vueltas, a river with glacial origins that begins at Lago del Desierto and flows into Lake Viedma.
The journey begins at the Comarka Rafting dome, where guides welcome participants and provide them with the necessary technical gear. Once equipped, participants travel with the guides in a van for a brief 5-minute ride to the river’s entry point, where they receive a technical and safety briefing.
The initial segment of the river spans 6 km of serene, winding waters, offering a chance to admire Cerro Fitz Roy and its surrounding peaks, the Andean forest, the steppe, and possibly native wildlife and birds. This is the perfect time to familiarize oneself with the raft and practice the rowing and safety techniques discussed.
The second segment ventures into the canyon area. After navigating the initial rapid known as “Portage,” participants encounter a series of class III to III+ rapids over 10 km, providing an exhilarating and adrenaline-pumping experience. Once the descent concludes, a van is ready to transport participants back to the base, where they can change and enjoy a snack and a drink to replenish their energy.
