• San Martín 872 - This is an adventurous rafting journey on the Río de las Vueltas, a river with glacial roots starting from Lago del Desierto and culminating in Lake Viedma.
  The adventure begins at the Comarka Rafting dome, where participants are greeted by guides and equipped with necessary gear.
  After suiting up, adventurers are shuttled by van to the river’s entry point, a mere 5 minutes from the base, for a briefing on technical aspects and safety. The initial 6 km stretch of the river offers serene, winding waters perfect for admiring the majestic Cerro Fitz Roy, its surrounding spires, the Andean woodlands, the steppe, and possibly some local wildlife and birds. This tranquil segment allows rafters to familiarize themselves with the raft and practice paddling and safety maneuvers previously explained.
  The journey intensifies as it enters the canyon stretch. Following the first rapid known as “Portage,” a series of class III to III+ rapids span the next 10 km, providing a rush of excitement and adrenaline. Upon completing the descent, a van will be ready to transport participants back to the base where they can change, relax, and refuel with snacks and beverages.

Rafting combines thrill, excitement, and a rush of adrenaline, and the Rio de las Vueltas provides a perfect environment for it. Initially, the serene river water lets us bond with the natural surroundings and marvel at the stunning view framed by the striking Cerro Fitz Roy and its accompanying pinnacles, along with potential sightings of local wildlife and birds. After traversing about 5 kms, we encounter the first rapid, termed ‘Portage’ by the guides. This event initiates a series of rapids stretching for approximately 10 kms, resulting in a surge of adrenaline and enjoyment, and injecting the right amount of adventure into an experience that will engage all your senses and afford a completely novel view of Patagonia.
